I really enjoyed the storyline of this book, it kept me guessing and interested the whole time. As a Tampa native, it was fun to hear all of the local landmarks mentioned! A sequel to Jason’s story would be great!

Another brilliant book by Kristin Hannah
Revisado: 03-04-24
First, I’m a huge Kristin Hannah fan! I don’t think she’s ever written something that I didn’t love! This book had me intrigued from the moment I read about it, because I love historic pieces. However, I was uncertain how she was going to make “another” book about Vietnam uniquely her own. Well, of course, she did it marvelously! Coming from a family of Vets, several who served in Vietnam, and from a family with many nurses, this story is not new to me. However, I am embarrassed that I did not truly know the depths of the ACN & other women who served there. As so many others, my mind still thinks of the men who were Vietnam Vets, and rarely of the women. Thank you for sharing other books that delve further into the history of women in Vietnam, I have already found them and plan to read them as well. I’m so glad she ventured into this history and gave their stories such a powerful voice and presence through this book. It was a a raw and moving story, so well written and truly did justice to the story of the women, and all of those who served, in the awfulness of Vietnam. Well done!

Historia
On a winding crystal-clear river, under the tall pines and aging oaks, she buys an old abandoned home in hopes of restoring it, only to find that a specter of the past seems to haunt the river's edge. Filling her days by stripping wallpaper, sanding floors, and discovering the secrets her house has left behind, she fills her nights by imploring the river to take her sorrows and set her free.

A journey of the heart! Loved it!
Revisado: 07-14-23
First, as a Florida girl who grew up going to an old family vacation home in Homasassa Springs, I have been so excited for this book to release! It did not disappoint! I love all of Kathryn’s books, but this one was different, it was a passion project for her. While staying true to her southern landscapes & locations, and a beautiful love story that slowly develops, she reached into other genres with this one, and did so magnificently. Bringing in the history of the area, Ryla’s “new” old home & an old love story, she weaved in a ghost story that fit Ryla’s journey perfectly. Speaking of Ryla’s journey, Kathryn took us through a heart pulling tale of rediscovery, exploring one’s own truths, finding happiness again and fearlessly starting over.
While making a fresh start, Ryla also has to learn how to face the secrets she has tried so hard to run from. Through all of this, though it was the last thing she was looking for, Ryla finds love again. And, oh, how heart stoppingly wonderful this new love is. I would call this a subtle romance book, as that is not the main focus of Ryla’s story, but the author weaves it in perfectly.
You truly feel like you are there with Ryla, in the quaint southern town of Chuluota Springs, a name the author thoughtfully picked, as it means Beautiful View in the Seminole Indian language. I love that she paid homage to our native Florida Seminole Indians, if you are from old Florida you know that Floridians believe this land is protected by the Native American spirits.
I just love how this story has such flowing words and colorful writing skills by the author. It brings you there visually, sitting on the dock looking out into the peaceful inlet with a friendly manatee (aka chubby mermaid) popping up to say hi. It draws you into the historic neglected antebellum style home and let’s you feel the love Ryla pours into restoring it. As she discovers the secrets of the house, her own secrets surface & as she brings the house’s beauty back to life, board by board, she rebuilds her own life & puts her heart back together, piece by piece.
For lovers of Kathryn’s writing, I must mention that she didn’t leave out the occasional mention of amazing southern foods! If you know, you know…and if you don’t…go now, right now, and start her Starving for Southern series! 😉😋
Ryla is as compelling a protagonist as any in a fiction book. There are so many very human and real emotions that you can’t help but feel a connection to her. The author gave a perfect depth to the characters and left me always wanting more….hint hint to Kathryn Andrews! A sequel is most definitely wanted by this reader!
Its hard to pick my favorite part of this book; the story, characters, setting, descriptions of the southern Gulf Coast town…they all combine to make a memorable and enjoyable experience. The narrator did a great job capturing the characters personalities & keeping a steady, enjoyable pace throughout the book. If you love nature, you will love this book. If you love mystery, you will love this book. If you love romance, you will love this book.

Big hats. Small hats. Elaborate hats. Simple hats. I love them all. Every. Single. One. And because of this, I've always known I would one day own a Derby hat store. At 25, I've back in my hometown of Louisville, and my dream has finally come true. With the season officially underway, my brand-new shop is gorgeous, the inventory is stocked, and I'm ready to go. My only problem is William Stokes Whitlock III.

Revisado: 05-12-23
I love Rosie May, I love Stokes, I love the setting, the story, the plot, the twists and turns, the sweet love story, all of it! I have already read this book and just had to listen to the audio once it came out. Hannah did a great job with the narration and she was pleasant to listen to, spoke at a perfect pace and had good intonation in the right parts. The only thing I was sad about was when it ended! I want to hear more about Rosie & Stokes & their life together. Also…hint hint to the author 😉…don’t you think Molly deserves her own turn in the spotlight?! Just saying! 😍 Well done to Kathryn Andrews on her first release since Chasing Clouds, truly can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next!

This was a beautifully written book and very well performed for the audio version! I am so glad I decided to give it a chance! Anyone who loves cooking, baking or just has an appreciation for culinary arts will thoroughly enjoy it! The characters lives are paralleled with their cooking, as they grow in culinary strength they also grow stronger, bolder, and more certain of themselves in their lives. It truly was an enjoyable book!

Beautiful story
Revisado: 07-13-22
I loved this book! It was a beautifully written story that was told perfectly by the narrator. The emotion could be felt through the words. The pain, loss, and later the joy were all felt through the journey of each characters life, especially the mother. The descriptive scenes made you feel as if you could see what the characters were looking at. I love historical stories as well, so the memories told of Stalin’s Russia and the unimaginable hardships of the Russian people added so much to this story. So glad I finally selected this book!

The sweetest story! I want a 3rd book!
Revisado: 09-13-21
I absolutely love this book & Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe (the first book in this series)! They were just perfect for a lighthearted, easy to follow, fun & romantic read! It was a little bit of laughter, whimsy, sadness, and then pure delight all wrapped up into a delicious cupcake! All of which there are recipes for! I have another favorite series (starving for southern) which does the same, ties the food & romance in together & gives recipes with each chapter, and this ranks right up there with that for me! Lizzy’s character is so well written, you literally feel like you know her…actually all of the characters are very well written. With the wonderful description & the perfect narration, you truly feel like you’re sitting in the warm & cozy cafe enjoying the baked treats & a latte right along with the fabulous group of friends! I so wish there would be a 3rd book in this series to continue following the story of Liszt & Austin as they embark on the new chapter in their life together!

But she finds that cataloging the family belongings - as well as their misfortunes - won't contain her family's secrets, not when her wayward sister suddenly returns, determined to expose skeletons that the Kratts had hoped to take to their grave.

Revisado: 06-17-21
It was a bit hard for me to get into it in the first few chapters, but I stuck with it and am glad I did. It was a good story, with ups and downs and a few twists, but in the end it came together nicely. It’s an easy story for when you just want to escape your thoughts for a while, also the narrator’s voice is very soothing to listen to.

Historia
The upheaval in my life began the moment a prince stumbled into my house and asked me to read his fortune. Any other night, I might have made an excuse to get him to leave, but this was no normal visit. My fingers prickled to touch him. So, I granted his request by handing him a single wishbone. When he snapped it, the wish...bled. Hearing me suck in a shocked breath, he asked what it meant. Such an ominous omen could only mean one thing: His death was imminent. Fate revealed that he wouldn’t die of natural causes. Someone wanted him dead.

The first chapter made me thinking I had made a mistake and wouldn’t be able to get into this book, but by the 3rd chapter it picked up tremendously and I was hooked! The author uses such creativity and imagination in telling this story. I didn’t love the narrator’s voice when she was protesting other characters, but I was able to ignore that and enjoy the story! I will definitely be reading the next book!

First, I loved that Mel Robbins herself narrated the book, I don’t think anyone else could have properly relayed the meanings. Second, I loved every second of this book.
