Historia
Growing up in a family of political journalists - and daughter of President Reagan’s White House social secretary - Ali Wentworth rebelled against her blue-blood upbringing, embracing Hollywood, motorcycles, even a few wildly inappropriate marriage proposals. Today she is an acclaimed comedic actress and writer, former Oprah regular, wife of political and media star George Stephanopoulos, and a mother who lets her two girls eat cotton candy before bed. Though she’s settled down, her rebellious nature thrives in her comedy and her view of her crazy world.

What made the experience of listening to Ali in Wonderland the most enjoyable?
Ali's humor has always intrigued me. She is very funny and revealing in this book. It was like hanging with a funny friend for a few hours.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Definitely, it was hard to put down.
Any additional comments?
I'd like to hear more from her, not so much about her life, but just her funny observations.

Historia
Peking in 1937 is a heady mix of privilege and scandal, opulence and opium dens, rumors and superstition. The Japanese are encircling the city, and the discovery of Pamela Werner's body sends a shiver through already nervous Peking. Is it the work of a madman? One of the ruthless Japanese soldiers now surrounding the city? With the suspect list growing and clues sparse, two detectives - one British and one Chinese - race against the clock to solve the crime before the Japanese invade and Peking as they know it is gone forever.

Worth a listen
Revisado: 08-17-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This book has all the elements of a good mystery. It's shocking in places. Would have liked to have learned a little more history of what was going on in the country at that time.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Probably.

I learned so much about my family from this book!
Revisado: 08-17-12
What did you love best about Find Out Who's Normal and Who's Not?
I bought this book to find out more about my crazy coworkers, but learned so much about my family instead! This book isn't so much about hard-core mental illness, but about the little personality traits that you find in most people. Extremely interesting listen. I listened to it several times and jotted down notes.

Carol, I enjoyed this time together too
Revisado: 08-17-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I watched Carol Burnett's show growing up and am still prone to mimic her drawned out "Dewayne" or one of her Mama's characters. I loved her first autobiography; it's one of my keepers. This book was good, but lacked some of the emotional depth of the last book, which was what was so endearing about it. Enjoyable listen nonetheless.
What does Carol Burnett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Hearing Carol Burnett speak is worth the listen alone.

Historia
The powerful debut novel from Alan Brennert, Moloka’i tells the story of Rachel Kalama, a seven-year-old Hawaiian girl who contracts leprosy and is quarantined on the island of Moloka’i during the 1890s. Separated from her family and forced to grow up in the leper colony of Kalaupapa, Rachel experiences intense isolation. But she remains strong, finding moments of joy, and even love. Rich in Hawaiian history, this novel proves itself a stellar piece of historical fiction.

Hawaii facts interesting, but depressing story
Revisado: 08-17-12
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
The history of Hawaii is interesting and I enjoyed the reader's pronunciation of Hawaiian words, but the author makes anything bad that could happen to this girl happen. The unabridged version (17 hours!!) just drags out the depressing story even longer. I listened to it through the end, but my fellow Metro riders probably wondered why I had tears in my eyes most mornings.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I thought she did a good job and I enjoyed her Hawaiian accent.
Did Moloka’i inspire you to do anything?
I have always wanted to go to Moloka'i because it is still relatively untouched (primarily because it was a leper colony) and that's still a goal.
