Historia
Police Chief Jeep Mullane has been bounced back home to Long Island’s North Shore by a heartbreaking case that both earned him his NYPD detective’s shield and burned him out of the Job. Now heading up a small local police department, he finds himself navigating the same geography he did growing up there as the son of an NYPD cop. Jeep is a “have-not” among the glittering “haves,” a sharp-witted, down-to-earth man in a territory defined and ruled by multigenerational wealth and power and the daunting tribal codes and customs that come with it.

Exceptional Writing & Great Listen
Revisado: 02-19-25
Listening to the first few pages was all it took to realize Kevin Wade is a beautiful writer. When you match exceptional story telling and movie worthy dialogue with a talented voice actor/narrator you can just close your eyes and the book simply comes to life. I felt like I was watching a movie in my mind.
The book is a police procedural with a small town, big money flair. Jeep, chief of police in a small North Shore Long Island district, grew up a cop's son but straddled the the private world of the uber-wealthly Long Island elite due to his best friend. Without saying too much, Jeep feels obligated to solve a crime that's not in his jurisdiction, and he has to play all the class levels of his little society to get answers. More than one mystery unveils itself as Jeep deftly plays class politics as he delves into the rabbit hole.
Highly recommend this audiobook. After decades as a screenwriter for movies(Meet Joe Black) and TV(Blue Bloods), I can't believe this is Wade's first novel. John Pirhalla was a perfect choice to bring this to audio.

This one brought me back to the same feeling I had when I listened to Dungeon Crawler Carl for the first time. It’s a pure dungeon romp with hilarious characters, bosses and mobs and insane system messages. The narrator nailed it. The same Narrator who finished up Jake’s Magical Market.

Great Story, Great Characters, Great Narration
Revisado: 09-27-23
The reviewer that described Red Rabbit as a paranormal Lonesome Dove nailed it. On one hand Red Rabbit is a post-Civil War Paranormal Western with a twist of scary, a dose of magic, a devoted spirit, a pinch of humor and characters that you love. On the other hand it's just a beautifully written novel by Alex Grecian which makes the comparison to Larry McMurtry or Charles Portis all the more appropriate. John Pirhalla's performance and amazing voices make the characters come alive. Tom Goggins was brilliant. This was a very cinematic audio experience, if that makes sense. Use your earbuds for this one!

Listened to the book with my daughter and wife on a road trip. Just perfect story as we calmly drove out west. Love the narrators voice! It’s nice to listen to an original story that’s written so well. Didn’t even realize the narrator wrote the book until my daughter noticed. Highly recommended!

Best book of the series so far
Revisado: 02-21-23
John Pirhalla is one of the best narrators out there. He has taken this already great series to a whole new level. His character voices are amazing.
Frisbee beautifully weaves many storylines together in book 5. Brilliant and touching ending proves once again that this series is more than just a run of the mill military sci-fi. This should be a tv series.

Historia
After more than 20 years in special operations, USMC Gunnery Sergeant Wolf Mathison wasn’t looking forward to retirement when—implanted with an experimental artificial intelligence—he deployed on his last mission with a platoon of Marine Raiders being sent to the Jovian moon Europa. The USS Jefferson was destroyed en route, though, and only Mathison and three other marines survived. Trapped in stasis, they were hurled into the outer reaches of the solar system, where they wouldn’t be found for hundreds of years.

Very Good MSF with an Expanse-like storyline
Revisado: 10-27-22
I love how Frisbee throws you into the deep end and knows his readers/listeners are smart enough to keep up. The Finnish military jargon and ranks were hard to grasp at first but as the novel moved along those words became second nature. Lot's of characters and accents in this book. Stellar job by the narrator to handle all of that. He nailed the voices. The dialogue is well written and perfectly acted. Pirhalla's narration definitely pulls you into the story.
Just when you think you have a normal MSF the plot starts to slowly shift through hints and happenings, and opens up little by little in a very Expansian way. (Don't want to give anything away.) Can't wait for book 2.

Narration is Brilliant
Revisado: 08-08-22
It's a beautifully written novel by Schwab. The sentence craft is gorgeous and the story line keeps the listener moving along. But with the right voice, lovely prose can reach entirely new levels. Julian Rhind-Tutt has done just that. It always strikes me as odd that many reviews in Audible never even mention the narrator's name. These reviews should be just as much or more about the narrator than the writer. Rhind-Tutt delivers a masterpiece on narration. Very clearly JRT took great care with every sentence and performed the entire cast with subtle personality and the expertise of a great voice actor. This audiobook has already been awarded a much deserved Earphones award from Audiofile magazine.

Revisado: 06-01-22
Another beautiful, funny, plot-twisting, wonderful book by Dan Chaon. I love the brilliant and poetic ponderings of the main character. A completely unique experience! The 1st person narration was exceptional as well. Staying in that drifter/grifter voice throughout must have been challenging.

Exceptionally Fun SciFi
Revisado: 02-18-22
Ashton is his own writer but I must say this book is what you would get if you could mix a cocktail with 2 oz of John Scalzi and 2 oz. of Andy Weir. 1st person. Intelligent humor. Great dialogue. Interesting characters. A complicated issue to resolve on a faraway planet. Just the right balance of science and emotional moments. A main character that you REALLY like. With a dash of romance.
John Pirhalla's narration was brilliant as usual. The personality of Mickey came shining through in the audiobook. So many well acted voices throughout. So happy this is a series.
