Historia
Shari Franke’s childhood was a constant battle for survival. Her mother, Ruby Franke, enforced a severe moral code while maintaining a façade of a picture-perfect family for their wildly popular YouTube channel 8 Passengers, which documented the day-to-day life of raising six children for a staggering 2.5 million subscribers. But a darker truth lurked beneath the surface—Ruby’s wholesome online persona masked a more tyrannical parenting style than anyone could have imagined.

Incredible story
Revisado: 02-06-25
Shari tells an honest and heartbreaking story of pain, truth, and sorrow. As a mother and grandmother, it’s difficult to imagine a mother treating her children like this, but as someone who has studied mental health, I also understand that there are sometimes underlying causes. However, this doesn’t explain abusing children and adults in the name of therapy or God. Thank you Shari for your story. I wish you well.

Historia
Robert K. Massie returns with another masterpiece of narrative biography, the extraordinary story of an obscure German princess who became Catherine the Great. Born into a minor noble family, Catherine transformed herself into empress of Russia by sheer determination. For thirty-four years, the government, foreign policy, cultural development, and welfare of the Russian people were in her hands.

Dry as burnt toast
Revisado: 09-08-24
If you want a stream of facts, read this. If you want an interesting story, find something else. The monotonous tone of the narrator and the lack of an interesting telling of this story put me to sleep. It might be okay to read but it isn’t a book to listen to unless you suffer from insomnia.

I love Denise’s books and can’t wait to see what develops in this new series. I love that she brought James Malcom back and am curious to see how that comes along as well! Of course you can’t go wrong with Shannon as the actor!

Historia
Disgraced, ex-detective Harper Adams is perfectly content wallowing at rock bottom. But everything changes when she gets chilling news. A childhood friend’s daughter is missing...and it’s eerily reminiscent of Harper’s sister’s kidnapping and murder two decades ago. Not her business. Except with the police fumbling the case at every turn, Harper realizes she might be the only one who can save the girl. And she might need the help of James Malcolm, a former crime boss, to do it.

I was a skeptic at first
Revisado: 12-03-23
At first, I was thinking, “Okay Mel, sure”. I was skeptical about the whole 5 second thing but I’ve tried it a few times and I listened all the way to the end and she made a believer out of me. I don’t battle anxiety much but I know many who do. All I kept thinking was I could buy this 25 times and I’d probably still need more to send to everyone I know who would benefit from hearing this too.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Monday mornings aren’t supposed to be fun, but they should be predictable. However, on this particular Monday, Stephanie Plum knows that something is amiss when she turns up for work at Vinnie’s Bail Bonds to find that longtime office manager Connie Rosolli, who is as reliable as the tides in Atlantic City, hasn’t shown up. Stephanie’s worst fears are confirmed when she gets a call from Connie’s abductor. He says he will only release her in exchange for a mysterious coin that a recently murdered man left as collateral for his bail.

Story is blissfully short
Revisado: 11-17-22
The story is fine. The narrator is just this side of awful. She apparently doesn’t know how to pause for periods. She mispronounced key words and names. She doesn’t do voices. But hang in there because she only does a couple books then a real narrator takes over!
