Disappointing
Revisado: 11-28-07
I've read other "retellings" of famous novels and enjoyed them all, but not this one. It is not at all true to the original story. I was looking for the same story told from Rhett's point of view, but instead it's a totally unfaithful retelling, introduces major characters that were never in the original and changes the stories of major characters that were. The narration isn't that great either.

Historia
On the eve of the Globe's production of Hamlet, Shakespeare scholar and theater director Kate Stanley's eccentric mentor Rosalind Howard gives her a mysterious box, claiming to have made a groundbreaking discovery. But before she can reveal it to Kate, the Globe burns to the ground and Roz is found dead...murdered precisely in the manner of Hamlet's father. Inside the box Kate finds the first piece in a Shakespearean puzzle, setting her on a deadly, high-stakes treasure hunt.

disappointing narration
Revisado: 10-07-07
I think this was a good book, but the narration was so bad that it ruined it for me. I stuck with it due to the story, but it was sometimes a difficulty. I think it was just a very bad match of narrator to book.

Historia
Sarah Vowell exposes the glorious conundrums of American history and culture with wit, probity, and an irreverent sense of humor. With Assassination Vacation, she takes us on a road trip like no other, a journey to the pit stops of American political murder and through the myriad ways they have been used for fun and profit, for political and cultural advantage.

irritating
Revisado: 08-02-05
This book would be really great, if it had been written by someone else. Someone who doesn't constantly criticize others (everyone from school girls to senior citizens) and throw in her personal political viewpoint. The material is great, but the snide tone of the author and the IRRITATING voice of the narrator made this a painful listen.
