People like Christopher Columbus, Isaac Newton, Florence Nightingale, Thomas Edison, Nancy Astor, Charles Lindbergh, Amy Johnson, Edmund Hilary and Neil Armstrong - their unparalleled success has made their stories into legend. But what if one man had such a dream, and once he'd achieved it, there was no proof that he had fulfilled his ambition?

Great Book, Fact or Fiction?
Revisado: 08-08-09
I really enjoyed this listen. Although I have no interest in climbing, the passion that this man exudes is contagious. It's an adventure, a love story and a very easy listen. It was a bit long, and I wonder if the abridged version would have been just as good...Enjoy!

Riveting, and true!?
Revisado: 07-16-07
The story gets you from the first word...as bizzare as the story is, the most bizzare thing about it is that it's a memoir, a true story! It gives new meaning to "you can't make this stuff up!" I loved everything about it. I would highly reccomend it.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

I found the book a tad bit difficult to follow, but after the first half hour, I was hooked. Beautiful story with many twists and turns in an enchanting setting. And bonus: The narrator was a pleasure to listen to!

This brilliant satirical novel, tracing the life and loves of Ernest Pontifex, has continued in popularity since its original publication in 1903. Every generation finds in The Way of All Flesh a reaffirmation of youth's rightful struggle against the tyranny of harsh parents and its admirable will for freedom of personal expression.

Terrific Book, Narrator had much to be desired
Revisado: 03-11-07
This was a wonderful book, full of gems! The narrator was so difficult to listen to. Unlike other readers, I never got used to his "tone." The story was wonderful though and was worth suffering through the narrator.

An Emotional Classic
Revisado: 09-10-06
Far more in-depth than any movie could portray. I was rivetted by the emotions and portrayals of these classic characters. The reading is compelling. I would highly reccomend.
