The narrator was superb. I love listening to Ray Porter almost as much as I like Dennis E. Taylor's books. Very well written and enjoyable!

Dumb book waste of time, 15 words for review is almost as dumb as this book. Oh, and reviews by bots are both obvious and ignored. I bought this on the mobile app based on description, it wasn't until I realized how bad this sucked that I looked for the author and BANGZOOM, guess what, a moron.

Concept is good, and the historical atmosphere that is 'painted' is good but here is the jist - men BAD, women GOOD. Did not finish got too ridiculous.

Would make a great movie, kinda stupid, but the premise I wish he went more into. How did they evolve, and from what, how did they survive for so long, what is the tribe machinations/rituals etc.

Graphic, disgusting, nerve racking, hopelessness and great book. So many thought provoking paradigms of human nature and religion.

The narration was off, slow, lacked flow. The guy/hero 'Anti?' was not good at his job. Many dumb things and questions but, to let an exchange happen between Human Traffickers and Russian Mob on Miami beach was the dumbest. I stopped listening at that point.

Stupid premise. I feel dumber listening to this. No connection to 250 years ago? That first generation of survivors on the airships never thought to pass along ANY knowledge? No databases? No picking up a book during a dive? No video/DVDs/Hard Drives? No DRONES? No 3d printers for parts? Why not drop divers with the gear in one of those crates? Why not equip a bunch of crates to protect divers and shield them from radiation? No land rovers or the ability to build one? Airships survived I assume due to weaponized EMP, but some electronics survive? Why not land again? Say near the equator 2500 miles out to sea? Speaking of which, what did happen to 3/4 of the Earths surface? They seem to have enough of something to ferment, stim pills, pain killers? Fuel Cells of what exactly? To power a 'reactor'? Obviously not fusion. Pressure Valves, really, so we could not use a hand valve until we got an automated pressure valve? Last one, the original premise was these were bombers right, like in WWI, OK, so no one thought to point AA or SAM towards the blimps way? We still have prop planes, as does many countries, why did they not attack the blimp? Sidenote: Russian MIG found with switches and Vacuum tubes presumably to thwart EMP attacks...sooooo, just these blimps surviving is unbelievable.

What do the biologicals on the surface eat, and it looks like plenty of it to have so many and get so big - radioactive soil? So, the radiation has tweaked their DNA so much that passing it down generation to generation that they become extremophile Sirens... in 250 years? All brand new to the remaining human divers? That is the premise, completely implausible. Radiation destroys cells, and only single cell organisms and possibly bacteria can withstand high levels of radiation, for some time before dying.

This is before you get into the book with its cast society based on decks of only 525 people. Where the lower desks (Think Titanic) are down there drinking their own pee and using their own spit to water plants, while plotting a revolution. A revolution to get more food, but not understand the intricacies of keeping them afloat? They all work, so, doesn't the work contribute to that end, and if so wouldn't these people appreciate every single day how important their function to survival is? A mission statement might read "Please perform your duty today, or we all die." I am thinking that would be all it took? Now, if they were doing some form of genocide and throwing people out an airlock because they felt they did not contribute to the greater good, well now you got an interesting story. However this writer would have to come up with some dialog other than what was in this book. All the same characters on Battlestar Galactica, without any depth.

After I listen to something like this, I feel I read something meant for the 10 to 12 year old age group. But then, kids today would be asking the same questions, more I suspect. Appreciating Sci-Fi does bend physics to get to an underlying story built around interesting characters, this one is just soooooo dumb.

You want to read a great book about what happens after society reverts backwards? Read Eric Van Lustbader (Sunset Warrior) written in 1977. I am always fascinated in that topic, look at the statues in Ancient Greece and Rome, then look at the art work of the 1200's, the later looks painted by children in kindergarten... why is that? When Britons and Danes walked around thinking giants built the Roman villas, forts and walls, not comprehending in the slightest how they got there is fascinating.
