Historia
What? You don’t know Adam Wade? Here’s your chance! Adam Wade’s personal-yet-universal stories and vulnerable delivery have made him one of the most popular storytellers and comedians in the country on "story slam" platforms like The Moth and Comedy Central’s Whiplash. This Audible Original, performed on stage in front of a live audience, combines Wade’s greatest hits stories with entirely new material.

I’ve heard better shows on cruise ships
Revisado: 01-10-20
I cruise at least once a year. This guy wouldn’t hack it on a ship.

Historia
In a world where women hold all the power and men have barely been an afterthought, an intrepid shipmistress must put aside everything she knows if she is to save her people. Bela is at the helm of the Sandcrow, a ship sent from calm seas to the far frozen north in search of a legendary power that could turn the tide of war. Locked into ice, the Sandcrow is lost. Now, for the shipmistress and her crew, a desperate voyage becomes a chilling struggle for survival against nature, fear, and prejudice.

Very difficult to understand the spoken word and story
Revisado: 07-23-19
While I’m sure this book has its merits, I was forced to do a google search about 2/3s of the way through to simply find out, “what the hell is this book about anyway?”
Once I did that, I realized that most of my difficulty in understanding it derives from the fact that I couldn’t understand most of what was being said because of that stupid accent.
Maybe, if, I have absolutely nothing else to do, I’ll listen to it again. In the meantime, he’ll will freeze over before I buy another book if the narrator chooses to speak in that accent.
So glad it was free. Otherwise, I’d be demanding my money (credit) back.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Awesome book. A MUST listed to
Revisado: 05-22-19
As one of Audibles freebies, I assumed this book would be mediocre at best.
Boy, was I wrong.
The story was riveting, the performance stellar.
John’s imagination made Zachary’s performance easy and very enjoyable. To be able to yell “SHUT UP” with meaning and not blow my eardrums out takes real talent.
This is one I’ll definitely listen to again.

Historia
After a particularly long cruise, the USS United States is in port in Naples, and her crew is enjoying its first liberty in months. But something's not right. Several crew members have not reported back from their leave, and a beautiful American reporter who boarded the United States in Tangiers may not be a reporter, or even an American. When one of Jake's men, in a hotel in Naples, witnesses an assassination attempt led by this woman, Grafton realizes the situation is much more serious than he suspected.

GET A MILITARY ADVISOR
Revisado: 03-26-19
This isn’t the first book (and I suspect not the last) where the narrator butchers military jargon.
In this book, several times, Benjamin says the radar intercept officer is the R. I. O. in three separate and distinct letters.
It’s pronounced RIO (like you would for Rio de Janeiro).
Please, PLEASE, hire a consultant with a military if you’re going to do military books.

Revisado: 05-10-18
While the storyline is alright for the first 7 chapters, bu the end of chapter 7 and most definitely the beginning of chapter 8, he sound effects will leave a ringing in your ears if you’re using a headset.
The narrator is talking along and you’re concentrating on listening and al of a sudden LOUD OBNOXIOUS noises start popping up as part of the story line.
I stopped listening as my ears couldn’t take it any more...

Fire this narrator
Revisado: 06-29-16
The first three chapters were actually painful to get through. Does John MacDonald actually talk this slow, or did he do it on purpose? I actually sped the story up one and a half times and it sounded a little rushed, but closer to normal speech than at regular speed.

Historia
Against all odds we have made it into the last half of the 1990s. The Cold War looks solved, Arabs and Jews are talking, confrontation is on the wane. In this new harmony, one discord - what becomes of unemployed terrorists? You can bet they aren't going to retire quietly. Shunned by the Soviets, isolated by Middle Eastern realignment, one cadre hits on a scheme to jump-start the war machine. It's brilliant in its simplicity. With a single act they bring the world to nuclear boil. Jack Ryan and Dan Murray sweat to defuse a cataclysmic response.

It really sucks when you adjust the volume to a comfortable level, then the narrator yells.
Also, any narrator who reads a military novel should have a military background.

It was more than an incident: It was a deadly assault across the 38th parallel. It was the Korean War. In the fear and the frenzy of battle, those who had served with heroism before were called again by America to man the trenches and sandbag bunkers. From Pusan to the Yalu, they drove forward with commands too new and tanks too old, brothers in war, bonded together in battle as they had never been in peace....

Narrator has no military background
Revisado: 03-29-16
Narrators without military backgrounds should NOT narrate military books.
2000 is a time in military terms. Pronounced twenty-hundred. NOT two thousand.
Also, names of commands are pronounced just as they're written. For example: CINC is pronounced sink. NOT C I N C.
