Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Didn't want this book to end
Revisado: 06-08-10
One of the best parts of listening to a book on audio is when the narration ADDS to the story that would otherwise be lost if it were just simply read from a novel. The narration of the younger man and then the older man by two different narrators is what made this book 5 stars in addition to the story that just captivated me. Made me see circus life in a whole new way.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

I am left wishing there was another book by this author so that I could continue to be wrapped up in the world she painted so vividly with her words. From the begining, this book moved me and gripped me and I really felt like I stepped into that era. I'm tempted to listen to it again soon. I just loved everything about this audio book from the various narrators and how each voice was perfectly suited for their character to the ending which gave us hope. Everything about this book is a must read/listen

Historia
In April of 1985, Buzz Legare went fishing. The next day all that was found was his boat and his waiting, faithful dog. Twenty years later, his daughter Hannah still finds hope in believing, alone among her family, that he's still alive somewhere. She has a smart husband, a thriving business, a beautiful home in San Francisco-and a huge hole in her troubled heart. True to her trademark talent for self-sabotage, she finds herself one starry night climbing up the fire escape in a desperate (and drunken) attempt to win back her own husband.

I read a review of this book and was interested in checking it out but felt disappointed in the characters that were self-absorbed and not very likable. In the end, I really didn't "care" if they resolved their issues. Not at all what I thought this book would be about.
