I wondered how
Revisado: 10-18-24
I love all her books but I found myself put off by all the characters , HOWEVER they all became such real people with genuine situations . Everything was wrapped up brilliantly . You hate Cheri for almost the entire book but by the end you would love to sit and share time with her. It was just so satisfying

Gary and Clare Kirk are set to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary...except they’re not. Childless, and with so little in common, the couple finally accept there’s no good reason to remain married. However, Gary’s idea of an amicable divorce settlement differs significantly from Clare’s, and tensions between the couple soon mount. Money, as is often the case, is at the root of their disagreement. As Gary explores every avenue to evade his wife’s financial demands, he inadvertently finds himself sitting opposite a relationship resolution advisor by the name of Edith Stimp.

I love time travel stories
Revisado: 12-02-23
I’ll be honest, I disliked Gary and Claire so much. The resolution was fun but I do think we could have seen growth from each. What she did at the banquet could offered her a chance to at least be a little reticent and remorseful. Her actions showed her to be as single minded and goal oriented as Gary but with no awareness. But still a fun read

Historia
Karl Strong is lonely. Not quite alone, which is, perhaps, worse. His best friend moved away, his mother died, and his father has crawled into a hole and pulled it in after him. He is a talented athlete, but after high school, he lets himself go and dies of a heart attack. Luckily, this is Middle Falls, where death is rarely the end of the story. Karl will have every chance to find what he needs.

Perfect Combo
Revisado: 10-21-23
To have one of the two best narrators in the business read one of my favorite series was just the perfect combo. Wonderful resolution , and I’m not crying , you’re crying . If you get Ray Porter to narrate a figure book, that would also be delightful !

Revisado: 02-27-21
I have been a fan of the Strike books from the start, and just like the Potter series
they just keep getting better. JK is at the top of her game and Glenister is a masterpiece, he and Ray Porter are the best at this craft. I never saw the twist coming. Well done!

Historia
You know the future that people in the 1950s imagined we'd have? Well, it happened. In Tom Barren's 2016, humanity thrives in a techno-utopian paradise of flying cars, moving sidewalks, and moon bases, where avocados never go bad and punk rock never existed...because it wasn't necessary. Except Tom just can't seem to find his place in this dazzling, idealistic world, and that's before his life gets turned upside down.

What a book
Revisado: 03-25-17
I started this book with trepidation cause I have been rooked into others that had critical acclaim, but I'm thrilled that the accolades were correct. One of those stories I didn't want to end, and the fact the author read it gave the characters a weird sense of authenticity. I have been recommending it to everyone I know

Historia
After working one of the worst mass killings in U.S. history, Scarpetta returns home to Cambridge, Massachusetts. Exhausted and ill, she's recovering at home when she receives an unsettling call. The body of a young woman has been discovered on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's rugby field. The victim, a graduate student named Gail Shipman, is oddly draped in ivory linen and posed in a way that is too deliberate to be the killer's first strike.

All the characters are unlikeable
Revisado: 11-12-14
Would you try another book from Patricia Cornwell and/or Kate Reading?
I have read and or listened to all of the Scarpetta mysteries, and this will be my last.
Has Dust turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, I still love mysteries and thrillers.
What three words best describe Kate Reading’s performance?
Does her best.
What character would you cut from Dust?
All of them.
Any additional comments?
All of the characters have become someone that is unlikeable. Scarpetta is now whiney, and honestly, when is the last time you've ever heard of any forensic person being famous, much less the subject of every newspaper and serial killer? Marino is an ass, Benton is pretentious, and Lucy has become someone no one wants to spend time with. The mysteries are formulaic at best. Cornwell needs to get back to the basics and make these people redeemable and someone you would care about.
