When they descend on the isolated world of Anjiin, the human population is abased, slaughtered, and put in chains. The best and brightest are abducted, taken to the Carryx world-palace to join prisoners from a thousand other species. Mind expanding ideas
Revisado: 08-24-24
I can see this being a great introduction to a long saga of universe building space opera of the highest order. The narration is excellent as well. However, the description of characters, environments and thoughts are sometimes so extremely detailed and long so the reader looses track of what’s actually going on in the story. It gives the characters a depths that I am sure I will appreciate further into the series but it felt a bit overwhelming at times. I would still recommend this book 100% to any lover of quality scie-fi space opera.

Nice but too much LotR copy
Revisado: 06-30-23
This is a nice novel and I like the full cast way of doing an audiobook. Characters are quite well developed and the plot is interesting. But it’s a bit too much Lord of the Rings copy. Dwarves, elves and man fighting an enemy to prevent extermination etc etc. even the Balrog is a copy but with different names

Historia
Nancy Kranich (played by Emmy-nominated actress Natasha Lyonne of Russian Doll and Orange Is the New Black) is a night nurse on an orbiting space station. But Nancy hates her job, is sick of space, and longs to find adventure and a safe place to smoke cigarettes that won’t blow everyone up. But when Nancy gets caught up in an outer-space conspiracy involving President Kennedy, former vice-president Richard Nixon, and an intergalactic object that could change the course of history, she gets way more adventure than she bargained for.

Kind of nice
Revisado: 04-23-22
A set of shorter stories tying up some loose ends from the main books. You learn a bit more about the characters which were important but not got enough space. There’s a story about Amos, about Fred about Inaros. You get a few more answers. Performance is good and I also really liked the authors comments after each story.

First great fantasy series in quite a while
Revisado: 01-07-22
Just finished book number three in this great story about Ashok, and I am very satisfied. Sci-fi and Fantasy is all I read and I am very selective. The last year or so I have been hunting for a mature fantasy series but have only encountered mediocre books. These books have it all and promises more. Great world building and characters who are interesting. Recommended.

Historia
Ambassador Mahit Dzmare arrives in the center of the multi-system Teixcalaanli Empire only to discover that her predecessor, the previous ambassador from their small but fiercely independent mining station, has died. But no one will admit that his death wasn't an accident - or that Mahit might be next to die, during a time of political instability in the highest echelons of the imperial court. Now, Mahit must discover who is behind the murder, rescue herself, and save her station from Teixcalaan's unceasing expansion.

Mediocre sorry read by a robot
Revisado: 11-01-21
The narrator reads like a robot. Strange pauses. Intonation without emotion. Seems not to understand comas or full stops. It is obvious this is a debut novel where the author tries to stack adjectives which doesn’t add any value one on top of another. A few interesting ideas and concepts but I would not recommend this book to more experienced sci-fi readers. Hopefully the author matures later in her career.

Trust me. It’s awesome.
Revisado: 03-17-18
Finally a really engaging, clever and intense adult fantasy. I’ve been looking for q long time but tend to feel all new hyped fantasy are for kids. So I drifted into sci fi where it’s much easier to find intelligent and engaging stories. But this book was great and I’m already moving into the next book of the series.

Every new planet lives on a knife-edge between collapse and wonder, and the crew of the aging gunship, Rocinante, have their hands more than full keeping the fragile peace. In the vast space between Earth and Jupiter, the inner planets and the Belt have formed a tentative and uncertain alliance still haunted by a history of wars and prejudices.

Excellent build up
Revisado: 01-25-18
This book takes the story of the Rocinante crew even further into both the universe and the depth of the characters. If doesn’t disappoint and even though it’s a clever build up to future books, it’s so much more than a transport. A must read.
