Historia
It's one minute after the Big One. Marty Slack, a TV executive, crawls out from under his Mercedes, parked outside what once was a downtown Los Angeles warehouse. Downtown LA is in ruins. The sky is thick with smoke. His cell phone is dead. The freeways are rubble. It will be days before help can arrive. Marty has been expecting this day all his life. He's prepared. He knows there is only one thing he can do... that he must do: get home to his wife, Beth.

High Expectations Dowsed
Revisado: 02-25-25
What started off as a story with a lot of potential crashed in the first four chapters. Zero realism or credibility with the characters Marty came into contact with. How does a fast food guy cook food with no gas and serve cold drinks with no power? How does a Neanderthal bounty hunter flip back and forth from being completely amoral to completely altruistic? And then just go away? Sorry too hard to follow.

When a nine-month-old murder case is reopened, DI Sheridan Holler is shocked to uncover family connections between the victim, Daniel Parks, and the three unexplained deaths. With Daniel’s body still missing and the number-one suspect cleared of the crime, Holler’s cold case suddenly becomes a major murder investigation.

One of the best I’ve read
Revisado: 11-21-24
I love British crime procedural stories. I loved this team; realistic, humorous, and heart wrenching.

Poor audio directing
Revisado: 05-31-24
This audio story did not do a good job painting a picture of what was happening with words. Too many scenes were left up imagination (cave, chanting, chapel).

It’s Hard to Say…
Revisado: 03-26-24
I loved the simplicity of the language and conversations between the man and his son. I loved the description of the emotional turmoil the man felt about his responsibility to his son. I loved their honesty. I hoped the man would have learned to listen to his son’s insights but I suppose he felt the weight of his responsibilities to provide for and protect.

Amazing Characters
Revisado: 03-15-24
I am a new D.K. reader and found this to be a fun, fast paced, an engaging story. The characters were likable and believable. They made me laugh and cringe. Shep properly drove me crazy.
I look forward to more of the same.

Historia
Private Investigator Liz Talbot is a modern Southern belle. She blesses hearts and takes names. When her grandmother is murdered, Liz hightails it back to her South Carolina island home to find the killer. She’s fit to be tied when her brother—the chief of police—shuts her out of the investigation, so she opens her own. Then her long-dead best friend pops in and things really get complicated.

Southern charm and guardian spirits

I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I like the family dynamics, strong characters who aren’t broken just to create drama and angst.

Historia
By age 25, Heather Anderson had hiked what is known as the "Triple Crown" of backpacking: the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Continental Divide Trail - a combined distance of 7,900 miles with a vertical gain of more than one million feet. A few years later, she left her job, her marriage, and a dissatisfied life and walked back into those mountains. In her new memoir, Heather shares her distinct message of courage - her willingness to turn away from the predictability of a more traditional life in an effort to seek out what most fulfills her.

Deep
Revisado: 06-23-23
I very much appreciated the message of Fear in this, Heather’s memoire. Each of us have one or two or many issues that we fear and as a result, hold ourselves back from great things. I felt a lot of emotions during the epilogue as she shared her reality that those deep fears won’t just vanish. Thank you Heather 🙏🏼

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Historia
The discovery of an ancient alien pyramid buried under the ice in Antarctica changes Earth forever. We learn that we are the forgotten slaves of a galaxy spanning empire called the V'kit'no'sat who abandoned our planet 100,000 years ago during a massive rebellion. Our ancestors, the Zen'zat, were given special genetic powers and ordered never to reproduce under pain of death...for themselves and their offspring. That means Earth's entire population is illegal and if the V'kit'no'sat return to reclaim their lost border colony they'll wipe out every last one of us.

Was there any direction or editing with this recording?
Revisado: 05-04-18
...it was absolutely painful to listen to narrator. Her tone, voice fluctuations, and maddening long gaps in between phrases makes it sound like a robot recording from my first Kindle.
I couldn’t tell you about the quality of the story because I couldn’t get past the first chapter.
I will give three stars just to give the benefit of a doubt. I hope I can get my money back.
