I won't spoil the work. A must read/listen. ASAP. I am finishing before the tox reports come in right after Matthew's death. He had great hopes going forward but I feel his story, the story in his book was his story after all. All there was meant to be. I hope I'm somehow wrong. You have to read this book to understand.

Sparks of a religion and a good listen and debate
Revisado: 02-19-23
I must say I enjoyed all of it. The narration, the prose, the production, pace, and uniformity was top notch which is so important in a book and so much more important in an audio book. In fact I started my second listen right after the first. But underneath is was a much as a promotion or pushing of 'the mind' as it was informational. You can see the scientific knowledge here and I appreciate that. However the brain/mind controversy still continues. I'm in the brain camp %100. The book is so full throughout of the proofs of Mind but when you look close at the words I found little to substantiate The Mind theory. Science has indeed done a lot of study of the brain/mind concepts and it has indeed tracked the major functions to specific parts of the brain whether it be one main area or most of it at the same time. Imagine a brain made up of 20 million 1TB memory chips holding memory and preprogrammed functions, and an ability to adapt and change itself second by second. It runs all the body systems and manages all the incoming stimulus and provides the conscious layers with a condensed time synced view of reality. Find a Mind anywhere and please let me know. I'd love to study it. Its like souls, ghosts, and gods. The book is like a debate, presented in a bias 'scientific' form, with no proofs but anecdotal stories like a TV commercial for some non FDA diet pill. In fact the entire book is imbedded with stories to convince you.
Now don't get me wrong. I do think we are all connected and everything is connected in the soup of the universe as we all are part of this big soup of energy we call a universe. We still bring into explanation the missfacts that humanity is the top of the heap, The most aware, most intelligent, and most connected to the universe and the universe exists and connected to us, especially us. The continued arrogance of humanity. We are a speck in the time scale of life and time and evolution on this planet. And there will be more species of humanoid type and so much more of the coming millions/billions of years. We are not the top and we are closer to all the other life forms. When you have a physical brain problem or injury, you'd better go to a physical brain doctor to have it addressed. The debate underlying most of the text of this book sounds more like democrat verses republicans debates on the floor of congress where as the bias here is to promote the Mind concept and demote the Brain. Read it, enjoy it, be open to understand the principals in this book, and mostly enjoy it. I am. Just where I hear things that spark of a bit of a religion I get cautious. From my brain to yours, enjoy it. I hope it sparks your thoughts in the debate.

Historia
Joe Dispenza, DC, has spent decades studying the human mind-how it works, how it stores information, and why it perpetuates the same behavioral patterns over and over. In the acclaimed film What the Bleep Do We Know!?, he began to explain how the brain evolves - by learning new skills, developing the ability to concentrate in the midst of chaos, and even healing the body and the psyche. Evolve Your Brain presents this information in depth, while helping you take control of your mind.

Wow. Best Yet!
Revisado: 08-03-18
Really good one Joe! This one shows step by step how the brain and mind work from the neurons themselves, the process of neurotransmission, and the connection to the organs and changes in the body. He gives the foundation of understanding of how the brain works, the conscious and sub-conscious layers, and how that translates into how we act and interact with our environment and how we in turn affect it as well.
I took every minute I could get to listen to this and frequently replayed sections for a better understanding of the concepts. As soon as I give my thinking a break, I'll be starting over from the beginning again.
Some really good information on how to implement changes in your real world. How to make sense of what's going on in your head and how you can interact with it and make changes - which in turn will change your world. #SelfDiscovery #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Worst audiobook production I have ever heard. Someone put together a sketchy outline copying topics in pieces over and over again then just read the outline. Chapters inside don't match the chapter numbers listed. Narration sounds like a computer voice. Please don't buy this.

How does the brain generate a conscious thought? And why does so much of our knowledge remain unconscious? Thanks to clever psychological and brain-imaging experiments, scientists are closer to cracking this mystery than ever before. In this lively book, Stanislas Dehaene describes the pioneering work his lab and the labs of other cognitive neuroscientists worldwide have accomplished in defining, testing, and explaining the brain events behind a conscious state.

Historia
No subject is bigger than reality itself, and nothing is more challenging to understand, since what counts as reality is undergoing continual revision and has been for centuries. The quest to pin down what's real and what's illusory is both philosophical and scientific, a metaphysical search for ultimate reality that goes back to the ancient Greeks. For the last 400 years, this search has been increasingly guided by scientists, who create theories and test them in order to define and redefine reality.

One of the Best!
Revisado: 12-19-17
I was hesitant about listening to a long course in case I didn't like it. So I choose carefully. I must say I was very surprised and very happy with this selection. The content was great. Short, enlightening, and to the point topics. If you didn't like one you could skip it as there were so many, however I listened intently to every word of every section. The narration and presentation was really surprisingly pleasing. I'll now feel more comfortable with picking another of the Great Courses. If you are on the fence on this one, pick it, as you'll like it.

Sadly, my worst recommendation - Not Recommended
Revisado: 04-12-12
More of a chatty poorly scripted talk show segment than a profession audio book based on the hard copy, so Not Recommended. Sloppy, drifted from the book, with lots of rambling conversation. Title is purposefully misleading, as hardly any of making money is in the content. Bob Proctor was just in the beginning sections, so again more misleading the consumer by the producers. Poor and sloppy editing. Long gaps of silence. Supposedly new age/quantum/law of attraction advice, but continous and increasingly repetitive references to god, god spirit, etc. Cheap back door reference to not listen to other authors such as the "Hicks" products, because of use of an entity, but then goes right into constant god references. Also noted some content rehashed from "Hicks" presentations of the theme, but poorly replicated. Frequent off the path rambling by author. Scattered, briefly touched upon topics, into many diverse areas without any substantial explanations or foundations. Suppossedly 5 levels of enlightenment, which really turned out to be several vague levels of elitism, sublimially promoted in constantly growing religious "christian/christ" theme. One would have to be already well versed in the real topics to understand what was poorly presented, so I would recommend other avenues to learn about the subject. (Which again, is not even described in the title or beginning of the work.) Poor construction of material and presentation. More of a friendly non focused off the cuff discussion by author - not a well prepared audio version of a book. Author lost the point on many occasions, and simply joked through it. Needed frequent redoing or editing, but left as is, in poor draft quality. I would be fired for producing such poor work. 45 minutes of promotional product selling at the end. Now, I did appreciate the informality of the product, but not the sloppy production, which is unfortunately what you'll remember. Now the author sounds like a nice person, very bubbly, down-under, sexy, sincere, and excited about the presentation, but that's now why you pay full price for a professional audio book. So this is overpriced simply because of poor quality, lack of editing/redoing, and unfocused presentation. The blatent scattered rambling/selling of products at the end, was a bit embarrassing to listen too. It would be OK if you knew about this when purchasing and still purchased, but being mislead to purchase this sloppy product, makes this a not-recommended product. Just a poor product, riding on the tail of "The Secret." You can do so much much better for yourself with other authors and products. Sorry to the author and producers, but they should have never released something that is clearly only in early-draft quality, as a finished full-priced audio guide. Embarrassing.

Historia
Richard Dawkins, the world’s most famous evolutionary biologist, presents a gorgeously lucid, science book examining some of the nature’s most fundamental questions both from a mythical and scientific perspective. Science is our most precise and powerful tool for making sense of the world. Before we developed the scientific method, we created rich mythologies to explain the unknown. The pressing questions that primitive men and women asked are the same ones we ask as children. Who was the first person? What is the sun? Why is there night and day?

An about everything kinda book, with a slight bias
Revisado: 12-22-11
This one is ok, presented well, and I liked the presentation and the author, and narration of the team. Breaks it up from having one speaker the entire book. Appreciated the effort of gathering the knowledge presented, and when to say "I don't understand."
Now this tells you about the DNA, Universe, religion, myths.... type thing. Giving the science side of the house. All valid stuff and good. So if you've never listened to one of these "everything about everything" volumes then I recommend it, and learned a few more things. The slight bias is to describe how the science point of view is correct, and once you get past the stories, myths, and non-logic of the other beliefs, the science presented is "what's really true." But that is what their theme is, so its on path with the sub-title. So, between the vast amount of science info, intermixed with the stated bias, its a lot of info and an interesting listen. I follow the science side of the house myself, but I also know that, 'what you believe is what's true for you and how you perceive the universe,' so... there's that. Enjoy, I recommend it.
