Lost the art of storytelling

The first book in this series was a masterwork of storytelling. Since then, the author has steadily improved his writing and lost the art of storytelling. I no longer have chapter by chapter interest in how the main character may affect the world. Nor interest in any of the side characters' storylines. Very rarely did I find myself wondering, "How's this going to turn out?" This series has turned into a stream of mindless battle books with narcissistic banter and needless details.

I'm a huge fan of the world and the author overall. I just wish a good editor would convince Brody to stop the cringy multiple love interests BS. Really try to limit the relationship writing since Brody is not good at it.

Proczko should work on unintelligent npc sounding all the same. Goblins and orcs reminded me of Trinsen too often.

Lost Momentum

Great series. Good book. However this book did not live up to the pattern of excellency from the preceeding books.

The book sounds like a book for teens. The magic system is interesting but too drawn out. The LGBT surprise was poorly done. The world has no LGBT set up but the teen boy who is surprised by another boy immediately accepts the invitation...

Terrible story great monolog

Though I agree with most of the authors premises his catalysts are laughable. There's no hiding that this is a hard right monolog of how why and what to do when SHTF(often not correct). The author has good points and is obviously well versed on economics. However the book is a joke of "reason will always subvert faith." The book relies on faith that the other guys are bad and dumb faith that Christians are better than heathens, and that all things work out for those who serve God. I like the book because I can ignore the nonsense that comes from people who look at life through politics.

Why is this book so good?

This book held my interest all the way through. I'm not really sure why I like it so much. Very predictable with one dimensional chars, but still it's great. Interesting story that consistently progresses. Great narrator.
