Historia
A mummified corpse, over half a century old, is found in the cellar of an abandoned building in a remote New Mexico ghost town. Corrie Swanson is assigned what seems to her a throwaway case: to ID the body and determine cause of death. She brings archaeologist Nora Kelly to excavate the body and lend her expertise to the investigation, and together they uncover something unexpected and shocking: the deceased apparently died in agony, in a fetal position, skin coming off in sheets, with a rictus of horror frozen on his face. Hidden on the corpse lies a 16th-century Spanish gold cross.

The plot twists
Revisado: 12-04-24
The book was great. The only minor criticism I would have is if you are used to Pendergast sounding like Rene Auberjonois, you will be disappointed. The narrator did a great job, but it would have been nice if RA could have done the Pendergast voice in creole.

I expected something exciting

This was not their best work. The story line was okay, but I truly expected something more exciting. I kept waiting but nothing really happened.

Historia
Colleagues-turned-spouses Dr. Laurie Montgomery and Dr. Jack Stapleton already have their plates full with demanding forensic pathology work and family pressures. The last thing they need is the sudden death of a colleague. Yet when Laurie’s apparently vital and healthy longtime friend Dr. Sue Passero dies mysteriously in the hospital parking garage, an autopsy is required, and it falls uncomfortably under Laurie’s purview as the chief medical examiner. So when Laurie asks Jack to take special care with the case, he can hardly refuse.

Constant references to covid
Revisado: 12-03-23
I wonder if, in retrospect, Robin Cook would like to retract the constant references to covid, masks, the vax and boosters since now we know they didn't prevent covid nor did they prevent the spread of covid. The story was fine, but it felt more like a book written so he could work in covid references and how woke is good and noble.

For Etienne and me, our love has always left a trace. It reigns over kingdoms, and rules over time. With Etienne now in the present day, the echoes of time grow louder. We must face the answers we seek to set things right. However, we must be incredibly careful. One false move, and everything we love will be destroyed. And this time could be the end of our surviving trace.

Interestingly different
Revisado: 10-13-23
The story line was interesting and had elements that were different from other time travel books. The general narration was great. The only off putting thing there was the different voice for the Etienne portions. Having two different voices for one character was odd. For the story in general, the author seemed to get carried away with the in-depth description of the main characters sexual activity for which I couldn't see the value add in a time travel book. But overall I enjoyed the series.

Historia
Nine strangers receive a list with their names on it in the mail. Nothing else, just a list of names on a single sheet of paper. None of the nine people know or have ever met the others on the list. They dismiss it as junk mail, a fluke—until very, very bad things begin happening to people on the list. First, a well-liked old man is drowned on a beach in the small town of Kennewick, Maine. Then, a father is shot in the back while running through his quiet neighborhood in suburban Massachusetts. A frightening pattern is emerging, but what do these nine people have in common?

Good Book But...
Revisado: 06-25-22
I am reading this book now, it's very interesting and the narrator is really good. If you didn't know this book was published within the last year or so, you could certainly tell by the fact that the author has followed the script and ensured he included all of the overt concepts of untraditional unions and viewers of one particular news network being portrayed as transphobic and prejudiced. I'm not sure why some writers feel the need to make such comments in a fiction book. It feels uncivil, unnecessary, out of place, and is very likely to alienate a good portion of the readers. Without that, my overall score would have been higher.

Historia
It was a devastating triple punch. Capping their four-year campaign to destroy the Trump presidency, the media portrayed a Democratic victory as necessary and inevitable. Big Tech, wielding unprecedented powers, vaporized dissent and erased damning reports about the Biden family’s corruption. Rigged is the definitive account of the 2020 election. Based on Mollie Hemingway’s exclusive interviews with campaign officials, reporters, Supreme Court justices, and President Trump himself, it exposes the fraud and cynicism behind the Democrats’ historic power grab.

Good but not great.
Revisado: 04-21-22
If potential readers are looking for information about election machines either why so many thought those were the problem or how they were not, they won't find that here. Except for about one vague sentence mentioning the machines more in passing, there is nothing. Instead the book leans heavily towards mail in voting being problematic as well as some voter fraud (voting more than once etc.) that can't or won't be proven and certainly none of it punished. My takeaway: the whole process is a convoluted behemoth sure to cause chaos - which some love because they can hide there. I did like the narrarator, she did a great job.

Too much personal politics
Revisado: 12-25-21
The book is fairly interesting, however, reading for me is a way to escape from the real world for a bit. When authors inject their own personal politics into the story line, it's an instant turn off. I gave up reading this book and won't read another by him.

I Returned This Book
Revisado: 08-11-21
I usually never complain about the 'reader' but in this case, the female reader was really terrible, in my opinion. I'm used to the reader changing their voice so the listener could distinguish between the charcters, this reader didn't do that so it was tough to tell who was saying what. Also she ran the conversations between two people together - something like 'where are you going to the store'. Very annoying. Last, the details with the animals were awful so I decided I had enough.
