Historia
Epidemiologist Steffanie Strathdee and her husband, psychologist Tom Patterson, were vacationing in Egypt when Tom came down with a stomach bug. What at first seemed like a case of food poisoning quickly turned critical, and by the time Tom had been transferred via emergency medevac to the world-class medical center at UC San Diego, where both he and Steffanie worked, blood work revealed why modern medicine was failing: Tom was fighting one of the most dangerous, antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the world.

George Guidall is my favorite! Listen to see why!
Revisado: 09-25-12
What made the experience of listening to Acid Test the most enjoyable?
George Guidall really did a good job with this one! He is my favorite narrator from Recorded Books!
What other book might you compare Acid Test to and why?
Any book by Vince Flynn. These books have characters in the military or police, trying to overcome political indifference and succeeding.
Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I have listened to many other books by George Guidall. Marker, Seizure Foreign Body to name a few. George Guidall brings any book he reads to life, and this was just one that I could not get out of my head.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. When MATT Wilder is trying to save Cowling's girlfriend from being electrocuted by Cowling, I was really rivited. I was really hoping that he would be successful, and was glad when Cowling turned out the way that he did! He deserved it!
Any additional comments?
Actually, yes. I am not certain who is responsible for this, but I had a lot of trouble navigating through this audiobook. Rather than being placed at the beginning of the chapters, the heading markers were placed at various scenes throughout the audiobook. If I lost my place, it became very difficult to find where I had left off. If it can happen, it would be helpful if someone could place the heading markers at the beginning of the chapters in this audiobook. Thank you very much. Happy listening!

With nothing to lose, Nate climbs back inside, confronts the robbers, and with his military training, starts taking them out, one by one. The last man standing leaves Nate with a cryptic warning: “He will make you pay in ways you can’t imagine.” Soon enough, Nate learns what this means.

suspenseful inlightening thought-provoking
Revisado: 07-30-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes. Good narrator, will make them think and question their beliefs about death
What other book might you compare Passage to and why?
Heaven is For Real is one book which I might compare this audiobook to. Both books explore what happens when a person dies, and each book takes a unique perspective. Some people, like myself, believe that when we die, we will go to Heaven and be with our religious Savior, such as Christ. Others have a more secular view, that life simply stops at death. After listening to both books, people on both sides will be able to debate the issue, inteligently.
Have you listened to any of Dina Pearlman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but, like J. Charles, I found her to be a captivating narrator. I would listen to her audiobooks, again.
If you could take any character from Passage out to dinner, who would it be and why?
It would be Joanna, definitely! I could not stand Mr. Mandrake, and I think Richard would be engrossed in his experiments with diazamine, (I can't remember the drug that was used to put the subjects into near-death experiences), but I think that Richard would be too wrapped up in his work to be interesting. Kit is trying to take care of her uncle who has Alzheimer's, and I want her to spend as much time with him as she can. Joanna would probably be an interesting person to talk to, and I think I could learn a lot about the near-death research that she has been working on. That type of thing, (neurological research), really interests me.
Any additional comments?
You will not be prepared for the surprising ending, or for what happens to Joanna just as she makes the important breakthrough about the neurological role in the near-death experience! If you are interested, get Passage by Connie Willis!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
great narrator, thriller plot
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Fifth Vial?
Natalie's lifesaving receipt of a healthy lung at story's end
Have you listened to any of J. Charles’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no I haven't but I will definitely do so now!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
when Natalie almost lost her niece in the fire
Any additional comments?
if you're looking for a story which has many twists and turns, and lots of surprises, get The Fifth Vial! It took me awhile to like the private detective in the book; he didn't seem too inteligent! But by the time the story ended, he had my respect. J Charles was a new narrator to me, and I wasn't sure how he sounded. But, he was great! Get The Fifth Vial by Michael Palmer, you will not be sorry!

hold on to your seats!
Revisado: 03-29-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Doctor Who to be better than the print version?
I rely solely on audio. I am blind.
What did you like best about this story?
The sound effects, the narrators, and the plot line itself was brilliant! The quality of the audio was also wonderful. I cannot wait to get the final installment of this story!
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
Even though Tom Baker has a definitive English accent, he is still easily understandable. He also places the inflection on the right places, and his depiction of the doctor's flipancy is great!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me hold my breath, and I kept wanting more and more. I did not want it to end!
Any additional comments?
Yes. Audible, PLEASE continue to provide unabridged audiobooks in the Doctor Who series!
