What did you love best about Almost Straight?
The story was interesting and actually has a pretty happy ending - very rare in the world of LGBTQ+ YA fiction.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked Audrey. Maybe because the perspective allows for a running commentary from her POV, there is a decent sense of how self-discovery actually feels.
Have you listened to any of Sarah Pohl’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not. The performance was really great, but the recording was not. I kept getting repeats of lines, outtakes - the editing was awful.

Where does Dreams of Gods & Monsters rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
At the top. The series of fantastic and beautiful. There was a hell of a lot happening in this book. A ton of new characters and new worlds - it feels like Laini Taylor was setting things up for a new series instead of writing a conclusion to this one.

What made the experience of listening to Days of Blood & Starlight the most enjoyable?
The narration and characters are still top notch, but I didn't like the story as much in this sequel. Great imagery, but the action is lacking a bit. It does serve as a nice setup for book 3.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The descriptions of characters and places.

Zuzana.

The Best Start to a Series

Where does Daughter of Smoke and Bone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is the best start to a series I've encountered in a long long time. It's unique and interesting. The premise is a little hard to wrap your head around at first, but once you immerse yourself in the story it's phenomenal.

I love Karou and Zuzana
What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The accents are great and the storytelling is engaging.
