Great character development. An interesting view of "I", "we", and cultural pressure. it is a different kind of space opera, the good kind.

3rd of the series yet still great
Revisado: 04-23-24
SF always has multiple books. But if we were honest, we would state how often each book in the series is lesser than the original. This series does not follow that sad rule. I am old and have read many books and listened to quite a few as well, it is exceptionally good.
Great story line, excellent characters, and a sharp understanding of human characters and personalities.
Even if you are not a SF enthusiast, this might be the in for you. SF but not too wild, yet novel.

Historia
Books and Bug are polar opposites, despite their friendship. Rumors on the road speak of a hospital in Washing D.C. Leading a small group of survivors, including pregnant women, the two travel in earnest to provide the soon-to-be mothers a safe place to deliver. Bug–a natural, charismatic leader–refuses to leave anyone behind while Books–a pragmatic social outsider–wishes not to be responsible for the safety of others. Together, they're exactly what this group needs to survive. But DC isn't exactly the safe haven they hoped for.

Reader is great.
The book however is the worst in the series.
1) does not continue the series to the exception of the otter.
2) the book is as tropy as it can be
3) I literally never give a bad review, but the author needs to be punished for this rubbish.

Different but good
Revisado: 10-30-21
It is not your usual Sci-fi.
I was sceptical of the story line. It starts slow but it all meshes very well. So we’ll that the outcome is so in-line that you find yourself coopted quite willingly.
Also without any research in the book I can tell the English it is written in is very British, due to the expressions used not the usual North America idioms.
Enjoyable experience.

Historia
John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce—and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So: we fight. To defend Earth, and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding. Earth itself is a backwater.

Excellent sci-fi
Revisado: 12-13-20
It’s starship troopers but without copying it. It’s a similitude without being a rehash. It’s excellent writing. Well developed characters and sound plot. I first read this when it came back. But now having re-listened to it while on a work trip; it’s as good the second time around.

A great classic
Revisado: 07-28-20
It is odd. It is a book that focuses on both individuals and society. It is nice to hear. The story line and behaviour of the protagonist, is a relic of its time. Dad aces of books and movies on this topic make his reactions and actions seem almost absurd, but his view and interpretations beautiful to hear. A classic worth a listen.

Historia
As President Trump’s national security advisor, John Bolton spent many of his 453 days in the room where it happened, and the facts speak for themselves. The result is one of the few White House memoirs to date by a top-level official. With almost daily access to the president, John Bolton has produced a precise rendering of his days in and around the Oval Office. What Bolton saw astonished him: a president for whom getting reelected was the only thing that mattered, even if it meant endangering or weakening the nation.

I am a liberal but ...
Revisado: 07-19-20
Beyond the criticism of the trump presidency and the handling of various situations, Bolton does a far better job in print than on TV to look like a reasonable hawk. This book was a very interesting insight into the current presidency but as well a compelling snapshot of geopolitical tensions and where and why they stand.
I surprisingly enjoyed it.

Historia
This near-future trilogy is the first chance for English-speaking listeners to experience this multiple-award-winning phenomenon from Cixin Liu, China's most beloved science fiction author. In The Dark Forest, Earth is reeling from the revelation of a coming alien invasion - in just four centuries' time. The aliens' human collaborators may have been defeated, but the presence of the sophons, the subatomic particles that allow Trisolaris instant access to all human information, means that Earth's defense plans are totally exposed to the enemy.

Non Western Greatness
Revisado: 01-22-20
I read and listen to lots of sci-fi. Due to the fact I live in North America most physical books are North American or European. Most audio books on audible are as well dominated by western culture. But this is an exceptional listen. Superb. Just when you thought you knew all possible avenues and approaches in this genre boom you find this book and it’s first part the three body problem.
