The narration did the book a disservice. It was so overacted, I could not connect with Ophelia. She sounded so bratty 99% of the time. This is the first time I have felt that I will actively avoid a narrator. The story was fine. A few good hot scenes but didn’t need Ophelia’s complaining during foreplay.

i love david sedaris. but this book was clearly one of his first. not funny at all. i was so bored. the only reason i kept at it was because he had been so funny in his previous books, i figured surely there would be nuggets of goodness somewhere. if you are a fan of sedaris, i recommend any of his other works, but not this one.

Witty accounts of odd museums

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 09-21-08

In the 1st 10 minutes, I thought I would hate it because it starts quite quickly and I didn't feel like the story had been set up. But after that, I definitely got into the story and found it quite amusing. Funny accounts of his odd travels. It did get a bit long at the end. The majority of the stories are funny but he could go on for hours and hours and after so many hours, you've heard just about all their is too hear of odd museum adventures. But I would recommend it. Definitely made me laugh.

Too much psychobabble

Total
2 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 09-21-08

I was looking for funny accounts of crazy customers. And while it had a few, there was way too much autobiography of pre-waiter life and psycho babble. The author studied psychology and it's like that makes him an expert as to why his customers and coworkers act the way they do. He should have just stuck to one story after the next without overanalyzing it to death. When we did get actual customer stories, they were cute but not laugh out loud funny. I'd "read" this book if a friend loaned it to me, but I wouldn't recommend paying money for it.
