Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

One of my favorite books. MG.
Revisado: 03-10-23
A great listen in every way. Like a wonderful play. I don’t read thrillers but I do love suspenseful books and movies.
My husband and I listened to this years ago and again now, totally absorbed.
Ignore the comments about flawed and “unlikeable characters” and
Rachel dismissed as “just a drunk”. How she became reliant on alcohol and was well explained by the author. I felt compassion for her and rooted for her throughout the book.
Those readers wouldn’t like Ana Karenina or Madame Bovary either.
A sharp look at how dismissive people like Sgt. Riley can be.
Another sharp look at shallowness and self-admiration in Anna’s case,
And sympathy and complexity in Megan’s case, each character well drawn.
Good actresses with distinct voices.

Incomplete history, but fun. Performance is poor.

Essential reading for every American
Revisado: 02-12-23
Thrilling story, well told, narrated beautifully.
This is the central story of America, the beginning of our democracy on Manhattan island, NOT the tyrannical theocracies of New England.
We have much to thank the Dutch for; foundational ideas on our individual freedoms and right to self-determination, our Bill of Rights, our strength in our diversity, our free trade tradition.
The winners, the English, wrote the history and buried our Dutch origins.

Historia
Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome tells the story of three friends and their dog after they decide to take a boating trip along the Thames River. Taking a boat along the river was a popular way to spend a few days at the time, but most people who indulged in the activity probably didn't have as adventurous a time as J, George, Harris, and Montmorency the fox terrier when they came upon the perfect way (at least, it seems like this at the time) to spend their summer holidays.

This is THE one to get!
Listenable, and lets you get the jokes without an elbow to your ribs!
Subtle and modern sounding, delivered with restraint.
My all-time favorite, for suddenly knocking me off my chair laughing,
and that’s not all.
