Historia
Communication is essential in a healthy organization. But all too often when we interact with people - especially those who report to us - we simply tell them what we think they need to know. This shuts them down. To generate bold new ideas, to avoid disastrous mistakes, to develop agility and flexibility, we need to practice Humble Inquiry. Ed Schein defines Humble Inquiry as "the fine art of drawing someone out, of asking questions to which you do not know the answer, of building a relationship based on curiosity and interest in the other person."

Waste of time
Revisado: 11-08-17
I really wanted to like this book, but the author is actually going against what it is that he is teaching. If you are looking for a book that will help you become better at asking questions and that book that has examples of good questions to ask, this is not the one.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

What made the experience of listening to The Five Temptations of a CEO the most enjoyable?
this book is a lesson in the form of a story. It is a quick read, and contains countless "aha!" moments. I would highly recommend to anyone in managment or interested in forming a lasting business.

a braggart tone
Revisado: 03-23-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This was a great story. I can't imagine what the author went through to develop the life skills he teaches about. But over and over, I felt like the author was more interested in telling of the amazing things he's done than teaching a lasting lesson. The narrator sounds like he's narrating a car commercial the entire time as well. I really want to like this book, but the braggart tone is a contradiction to the reasons for authenticity that the author is trying to convey.
How could the performance have been better?
different narrator
Any additional comments?
I got a lot out of the book, but the words didn't hold value because I didn't feel like he was interested in teaching anything. He was interested in speaking on his greatness. This book doesn't know whether or not it wants to be an autobiography.

Historia
An instant best seller that is poised to become a classic, Moonwalking with Einstein recounts Joshua Foer's yearlong quest to improve his memory under the tutelage of top "mental athletes". He draws on cutting-edge research, a surprising cultural history of remembering, and venerable tricks of the mentalist's trade to transform our understanding of human memory. From the United States Memory Championship to deep within the author's own mind, this is an electrifying work of journalism that reminds us that, in every way that matters, we are the sum of our memories.

fantastic!
Revisado: 07-20-14
If you could sum up Moonwalking with Einstein in three words, what would they be?
This is an incredibly well written book. I for one took a lot from this and use these techniques in my daily life. My memory has improved by simply taking on a few simple changes that Joshua explains in the book. A must read!

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

really hard to get through
Revisado: 07-20-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you like a taciturn main character and a dreary, depressing plot, this one is for you. It was hard to get through. I didn't gain the artistic and enlightening point of view as others in the comments, but just got annoyed with the main character. Donna is a talented writer, but I felt like I was dragging an anchor to get through this book.
