Historia
On April 4, 1979, a Boeing 727 with 82 passengers and a crew of seven rolled over and plummeted from an altitude of 39,000 feet to within seconds of crashing, were it not for the crew's actions to save the plane. The cause of the unexplained dive was the subject of one of the longest NTSB investigations at that time. While the crew's efforts to save TWA 841 were initially hailed as heroic, that all changed when safety inspectors found 21 minutes of the 30-minute cockpit voice recorder tape blank.

Biased Investigation of Near Fatal Mishap
Revisado: 12-13-17
A plane suddenly takes a roll and a dive and miraculously the pilot regains control of the plane and lands safely. The primary investigators was the manufacturer of the plane and it was not in their interest to find any fault with the plane, therefore they only investigated to prove that the crew was at fault and skewed the data to confirm this conclusion. Additionally, the flight recorder had been erased, so ahh... that must mean that the flight crew was lying about what transpired and were covering up their own misdeeds.
It was standard practice to erase the flight recorder upon landing, so a crew member may of erased the recorder, in the chaos of the landing as an automatic response or maybe the flight recorder malfunctioned. However the only explanation that investigators saw for the erased fight recording was that the flight crew was covering up their own misdeeds and errors, so any alternate explaining for the near crash was never seriously explored. Never mind that the crew had excellent records, reputations and were not known to horseplay around.
The crew was tried in the press and their reputations were ruined before the findings of the crash investigation were even made.
The book gives an alternate theory as to what may of happened which would exonerate the crew, however still to this day the mishap is still officially attributed to pilot error.
The book was well narrated and objective exploring alternate theories of the near crash. A very informative listen.

Mediocre Family Listen Historical Novella
Revisado: 11-25-17
This was a family geared historical novella about the early years of Leonardo da Vinci.
The novella wasn't bad per se, it just lacked spice and action to keep the interests of preteen children, especially boys, for whom the novella was geared toward. In other words it tended to be a bit boring.
There were interesting parts, however Leonardo and his friends could of had more exciting adventures to add flavor and zest to the book. Also the narration was done in a manor that was like one reading to a very small child, or a dim witted person or a person with a poor understanding of English. I feel the narration should of been done in a more adult sounding manor and style.
I did learn one little tidbit about Leonardo that I don't know, it seems that he had a bad habit of taking and starting a commission and then never finishing the commission.

Historia
On May 2, 1970, a DC-9 jet with 57 passengers and a crew of six departed from New York's JFK International Airport en route to the tropical island of St. Maarten, but four hours and 34 minutes later, the flight ended in the shark-infested waters of the Caribbean. It was, and remains, the only open-water ditching of a commercial jet. The subsequent rescue of survivors took nearly three hours and involved the coast guard, navy, and marines.

A Ditched Airplane in a Turbulent Sea
Revisado: 11-11-17
This is a true life account of a ditched aircraft in a turbulent sea; which includes the chain of events that led up to the ditching, the flight crew's heroic actions when the plan was ditched, the rescue operation and the fallout after the accident.
Without being too much of a spoiler, what dismayed me was that the crew member who died in the ditching was honored as a hero, whereas the surviving crew were somewhat vilified, blamed and held more accountable than the higher ups that should of been held more accountable.
It is an interesting account and I felt for the crew who got scapegoated while the administration skated.
The administration decided to fly the routes before the extra fuel tanks could be installed on the planes. The crew received inadequate safety training for a ditching situation. The crew did not cause the fuel gauges to malfunction. And there were a whole bunch of other contributing factors to the mishap that were caused by executive decisions, not crew decisions.
Even though this is not a true crime story, true crime buffs would probably like this book. The narration was professionally preformed. It was clear and sharp and well enunciated.

Erotic Horror Selection for Varied Tastes
Revisado: 11-05-17
This is an assortment of horror stories involving food and a bit of sex. Not all the stories contain much erotic content, so although this book is not for kids it is more of a R rating rather than a X rated selection. The collection is more horror than erotica.
Some of the stories are really good and others are just so-so, hence my generalized 3 stare rating. The first story of the anthology, 'A Woman’s Corn', was one of the best tales of the selections. I also liked 'The Stray'. Anyone who is owned by their pet could probably relate to this tale.
'P.A.C.D. The Kitchen of Tomorrow, Today' and 'The Care and Feeding of your Personal Demon' were also pretty good stories.
'Biscuit : A Love Story', had it's moments and was creative although parts were not really of my taste. I will never look at a biscuit the same way again. In fact I might not ever eat a biscuit again!
In general the narration was aptly done and proficiently preformed.

1680's Scotland Time Travel Romantic Adventure
Revisado: 11-03-17
This is the latest book in an Historical Romance, Time Travel/Alternate History series. This history in this book is more on the real historical time line rather than an alternate time lime as are some of the books in the series. The story takes place in 1680's Scotland during the reign of James II, right before William of Orange comes to power. The conflict between William of Orange and King James II and the Protestants versus the Catholics is in the background setting of the novel.
Time traveler Fiona has hand-fasted with Duncan and then discovers that Duncan MacCowan has the scar and tattoo described in her family legend as belonging to the MacCowan warrior who had attempted to assassinate her ancestor and William of Orange supporter, William Campbell. According to family legend a brave warrior lass named Fiona saves William Campbell's life. Fiona realizes that she she is the warrior lass of legend.
What a quandary for Fiona. She is in love with Duncan and she knows that at some he will try to assassinate her ancestor.
The book was an enjoyable listen with an interesting historical background and the narration was superb.

A Stylish Fun Cozy
Revisado: 11-02-17
This is a fun, quirky cozy series. The heroine is Marla a cosmetologist who owns a beauty saloon. She has a way of literally stumbling upon dead bodies. She is divorced from a verbally and emotionally abusive husband and has major commitment issues. Also she has a mission regarding campaigning for pool safety such as locked pool fences and early swimming lessons for children. When she was a young college student her toddler charge escaped from his play pen and fell into and drowned in the backyard pool while she was on the phone. The guilt still plagues her, thus she doesn't want to be a mother or be in charge of children.
The story is good though not quite a full 4 stars but better than three stars, which made it hard for me to rate. The narration however is excellent and made the book.
Also, my mouth started watering when Marla was talking to a friend and making Kugel. I really wish that there was an recipe attachment to the book.
In conclusion, If you like cozies with quirky characters and some fun, then this book would be a great choice.

Modern Gothic Style Paranormal Mystery
Revisado: 10-31-17
A distressed ghost, a whistle-blower, a lost heir, a spoiled snobbish mean girl bully, secret tunnels, peer pressure, undercover agents and murder are all contained in this novel.
Jesse a newly discovered heir, starts a teaching job at an all girls Catholic Academy. One of her pupils verbally bullies a scholarship classmate and keeps continuing her verbal abuse after be warned to cease. As a result Jesse gives the girl three detentions. The girl's father calls the principle, Jess and the school board to protest Jesse unfairly picking on his little princess. Daddy, who is as boorish and bullying as his daughter, demands that Jesse be fired. Little does daddy know that Jesse actually owns the school.

Religious Paranormal Mystery
Revisado: 10-29-17
Noah is a PI with paranormal abilities. He can become invisible, read minds and he heals supernatural quickly from injuries. His abusive step father killed his mom and his brother when he was a kid, thus Noah is a protector of abused women and children. This is his mission to aid and protect the abused. Noah is currently working on two cases. One involves an abused mother and child. The abusive husband is a very powerful judge, the other case is a cold case missing persons. The woman who is missing had a first husband who was abusive and responsible for their child's death. He would of been a primary suspect except he died in prison.
Mingled through out the novel there are religious homilies by Noah about God's will, Jesus' love, scripture, morals and so forth. Too much preaching for my taste.
Also aside from the paranormal aspects, much of the plot and story line is unrealistic. To give specific examples would divulge spoilers.
The narration sounded recited rather than natural at times.
There are many better paranormal and religious themed mystery, thrillers to choose from, so although this not a terrible book, it is not one I would recommend.

G Rated Magical Holiday Romance
Revisado: 10-28-17
Personally I wasn't that into this romantic comedy. It was a bit to silly and juvenile for my taste. No steamy hot romance either. Just a nice family rated magical romantic comedy. A good story to listen to on a family car trip with young kids in the car. If that is what you are looking for then this book would be a good choice. The story is also well narrated and preformed.
Single mom and chef Kris Kringle has just broken up with her boyfriend and heads back to her home at the north pole. Santa is her uncle. She plans on revising the elves menu to healthier food choices. Her ex-fiance Kyle has also traveled to the north pole ahead of Kris and has just been hired by Santa to be the north pole's new chef. So now Kris and Kyle are in competition for the chef position and Kyle is far more accommodating to the elves unhealthy food choices.

An Haunted House/Ghost Story
Revisado: 10-27-17
Dori is a police officer who's recovering emotionally and physically from from an officer involved shooting, where she shot and killed a crazed gun toting young mother.
While Dori is on leave she buys an old historical house that she is drawn to. The house is haunted by Vincent a probation era gangster who was brutally murdered in the house. Vincent appears to Dori and implores her to investigate what happened to the love of Vincent's life, Anna.
Dori has a zany, quirky grandmother, Grammy Cena who really makes this novel and adds comic relief.
The story is an okay listen and has promise for an entertaining series. The narration is also well done.
