Historia
Summer Redding thought the blindingly handsome jock who'd loved and left her years ago had died in the Washington Massacre. She grieved for her lost golden boy as the rest of the country mourned their dead - until she comes home to find a very alive Jack Delvaux waiting for her with a devastating secret that turns her life upside down.

Not LMRs finest work and what was ok was ruined for me by the narrator.
Revisado: 08-13-19
I am a huge fan of Lisa Marie Rice. Her over the top alpha H who become putty for the right woman just do it for me when I want a guilty pleasure read. However the H/h in this story never worked for me. I just plain didn’t like Summer. That has to do with character development. It was choppy and didn’t resonate at all. The narrator can make or break a book for me and this one just drove me crazy. The super weird accent she gave Summer was so distracting it derailed the book. The male voices were not well done either. Nick’s was way too feminine and partway through he developed an accent and then lost it.
The story didn’t work for me on a couple of levels. I didn’t believe a sex driven 22 yr old who wasn’t that great in school would come from the rock solid loving family, nor would he be snapped up by the CIA. I didn’t believe someone with Summers childhood history would react in some of the situations the way she did. The character development wasn’t on par with with I expect from LMR and I wondered at times who wrote the story.
I made myself finish it by reading, but will definitely not be back to listen or read again. A shame because I love to revisit LMRs stories each year. Not this one!

Narrator detracts from the story
Revisado: 01-16-19
I enjoy Rebecca Zanetti's series, but this particular Narrator makes me want to pull my hair out - Karen White is too breathy, too dramatic, portrays the females as whiny. She has the capacity to sound relatively normal, so it makes no sense to me why she continues this pattern of inflection and tone with the dialogue between the characters. For me, this narrator detracts from the story. I now actively avoid audiobooks with her which is a darn shame.
The story is a good one, I like the Blood Brothers and Sin brothers series and agree with other reviewers that its best to read the series in order. Just no more audiobooks by Karen White for me.

Historia
Wide open sky, rolling green hills...Gillian Tucker could get used to life in the country - one far from the violence she left behind in San Francisco. Warily accepting an invitation to the Montana ranch that belongs to her grandfather, a man she's never met, Gillian hopes this is the haven she seeks. A sexy, overbearing cowboy who shines a light on her well-hidden dreams is not at all part of her plans.

Not her finest book -
Revisado: 02-12-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I spent most of the time listening to this book being annoyed by the lead male character, annoyed by the inconsistencies in the story line just to keep it going and the dramatic enunciation by the narrator. I am almost done listening and will finish it simply because overall I like Jennifer Ryan as an author.
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator's emphasis on the "L" syllables and her drawn out - snooty vowels drove me crazy - I tolerated her for the other stories by Jennifer Ryan, but this will probably be the last one I listen to by this narrator.
Any additional comments?
I think this was the weakest story by J Ryan and I've read or listened to most of them, and very much enjoyed the others. I am surprised by how much I didn't like Blake, she never developed him or allowed him to be the protector the story claimed him to be. Will still read her books, Dane's story will be next, but I won't listen to anymore narrated unless another performer is chosen.

Historia
American doctor Tara Moore wants to disappear. On the run from an abusive husband, she seeks shelter on a windswept Irish island and dismisses the villagers' speculation that she is descended from a selkie - a magical creature who is bewitching the island. But when a ghostly woman appears to her with a warning, Tara realizes it was more than chance that brought her to this island.

Really wanted to like this!
Revisado: 07-09-14
Would you ever listen to anything by Sophie Moss again?
Probably not
Would you listen to another book narrated by Hollis McCarthy?
Perhaps - I didn't care for the lead male voice
Any additional comments?
I really wanted to like this book. The premise with the Selkie was a good one. However, the rest of the story was a complete knockoff of one Nora Robert's books set in Ireland. American visits, has abusive ex husband, meets bar owner, fall in love, ex shows up, etc. Ms. Moss was all over with her characters, I had to stop listening because the of inconsistencies of the characters and the choppiness of the plot. I am even having a hard time writing this review because of all the things I thought were wrong with this book.
