Historia
The first time I laid eyes on Henley James, I was mesmerized. The chemistry between us was like nothing I’d ever felt. Impeccable suit, dimpled smile. He was charming and gorgeous, sophisticated and suave. He gave me his business card and asked me to call. His dating game was strong; I was gone from his first smile. I’d love to tell you our date was a raging success, but it wasn’t. Far from it. I decided right there on that day that Henley James and I would forever be mortal enemies; I would never think of him again.

DISAPPOINTING!
Revisado: 09-06-23
I LOVE T. L. Swan!!!!
I couldn’t love this one. I was uninspired by both the hero and the heroine. What was the real story here? I hope the rest of this series is NOT like this one. I liked the male narrator, he was new to me but did a decent job. I was familiar with the female narrator but she annoyed me me on this one.

London, 1786. Lord Henri-Antoine has returned from the Grand Tour to a life of privilege and excess. A vast inheritance allows him every indulgence, free from responsibility. Yet, Henri-Antoine maintains a well-ordered existence, going to great lengths to conceal an affliction few understand and many fear. Miss Lisa Crisp is a penniless orphan who relies on the charity of relatives to keep her from the poorhouse. Intelligent and unflappable, Lisa will not allow poverty to define her. She leads a useful life working among the sick poor.

STELLAR!

This is my favorite story from this series.
Lucinda Brant as usual works her magic. This has a very romantic ‘Cinderella’ theme. The supporting characters are priceless!

DISAPPOINTING
Revisado: 12-16-21
I usually just blindly want to read anything by Catherine Bybee, they’re not all great but this was made worse by the uneven performance of the narrators. Also, the story kind of plodded along.
The Joe Arden half of the narration was great but the woman (Lori Prince) was downright awful!!
I’m glad she wasn’t the only narrator.

NOT SO MUCH……
Revisado: 07-20-21
I did not enjoy this narration. I’m sure it’s because I’m accustomed to Alex Wyndham. Because of this, even the story seemed to drag…

Historia
For months I stood by, an understudy waiting in the wings, preparing for my time to shine. I never imagined he would watch in the audience that night. Canon Holt. Famous film director. Fascinating. Talented. Fine. Before I could catch my breath, everything changed. I went from backstage Broadway to centerstage Hollywood. From being unknown to my name, Neevah Saint, on everyone’s lips. Canon casts me in a star-studded Harlem Renaissance biopic, catapulting me into another stratosphere. But stars shine brightest in the dead of night.

This is a story within a story. As usual, Kennedy Ryan delivers an epic. A breathtaking tale of unrelenting love, angst, anxiety and passion. The characters are colorful and realistic.
The narration is superb!

HOW INFURIATING!!!
Revisado: 07-01-18
Firstly, I have no complaints regarding the narrator. Susan Duerden is a rock star! One of the best ever.
My beef is with the story. Spoiler alert...I enjoy reading stories by Eloisa James but the more I listened to this book the more frustrated I got.
I experienced grave dislike for Alexander Foakes. So much verbal abuse! It was alarming. Then, the heroine....
I understand she made a mistake as a teenager but couldn’t she open her mouth to speak. It was frustrating.
Also, I think the story was too long.
I listened to the end to see how the ‘hero’ could ever redeem himself.
In my opinion, he got off lightly.
