I loved reading the book many years ago and I have loved listening to this epic novel even more. So many important topics covered. Hauntingly beautiful.

The most boring book I’ve read in a Loooooong time

It is over 11 hours of audio. I kept listening in the hopes that it might have an interesting plot, some twists or turns. But nope. If you want a soppy, unimaginative love story, then this is for you. But if you’re looking for something more interesting and intellectually satisfying, then it’s a hard pass. The female narrator is good, as she can narrate the male parts. Well. But while the male narrator has a beautiful husky voice, his female parts are so whiny and irritating. Sorry guys, I did not enjoy this at all. A complete waste of time.

It was okay…

… in a very competitive category, this was a bit of an anticlimactic read.
And the narration was a little too soap opera like.
However it was a pleasant enough read and good for those who would prefer to avoid the more serious / disturbing psychological thrillers.

After such an intense build up to Kenna’s situation, I was disappointed with the rather simplistic way it was all rather conveniently resolved.

I enjoyed the story, but not the narrator

I almost didn’t get to enjoy the story of the quarry girls, because I couldn’t bear the narration! It was slow, dreary, and very uninspired. But in the end the story was decent. I wouldn’t listen to the narrator again, though.
