Historia
Just days after Raynor Winn learns that Moth, her husband of 32 years, is terminally ill, their house and farm are taken away, along with their livelihood. With nothing left and little time, they make the brave and impulsive decision to walk the 630 miles of the sea-swept South West Coast Path, from Somerset to Dorset, through Devon and Cornwall. Carrying only the essentials for survival on their backs, they live wild in the ancient, weathered landscape of cliffs, sea, and sky.

WANTED so very much to love this.
Revisado: 02-28-23
I have a fetish for all things Southwestern coast England. With ancestors who hail from there, and deep love for the PBS masterpiece Cornwall, combined with an insatiable desire to spend my time outdoors by the sea or in the mountains, this book was so attractive.
I made it in 6 chapters before finally calling it quits. The narrator, and author, was too hard to understand and the story drolled on in such a low-engaging cadence. I just couldn't get hooked no matter what i tried. Such a bummer.

Very heart wrenching read, BUT
Revisado: 01-14-23
BUT BUT BUT.... you have to know there are a lot of F bombs dropped in this memoir. I understand why and how, given the story and complexities of poverty in America and his experiences,,,, but I wasn't prepared and truthfully, I wish they could've been bleeped out or done away with those all together. I have pretty hard ears for most profanity, but repeated usage of the F word just gets to me. I'll be sadly, returning this book even though I'm only half way through. It's just one too many
