No Small Thing
Revisado: 12-21-24
A story for contemplation at Christmas and anytime, as we follow the deep ponderings over "small things" that effect each person's life. Beautifully written as we see the difference human kindness, or the lack of it, can make in a life and ask ourselves what small thing we might do.

Memorable Characters
Revisado: 06-03-24
Tana French never disappoints in creating complex characters the reader cares about as they navigate challenging situations and relationships. That remained true in The Searcher, even though the overall tone and setting was quite different from her Dublin Murder Squad series.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

worth the hype
Revisado: 08-05-22
Sometimes I avoid or delay reading books that receive a great deal of publicity, almost expecting them to fall short of the hype. The quality of writing, and memorable characters in this book proved me wrong to have doubted. The audio book presentation was also excellent.

Unique, Well-Developed Characters
Revisado: 05-12-22
The author portrays the aging protagonists with a realistic and empathetic clarity, showing us a lovely blend of their past and current lives. It's a very life affirming book, despite the murder investigation and other loss of life portrayed. Funny & poignant as unlikely friendships form and lifelong relationships end. The mysteries are engaging, and as the secrets unravel we find human connections are the real story at the heart of it all.
