Historia
The police in Jersey County, Illinois, accepted Paula Sims' story of a masked kidnapper who snatched her baby girl, Lorelei, from her bassinet. Three years later, her second newborn daughter suffered an identical fate - and this time the police were unable to stop searching until they had discovered the whole horrifying truth. This is the full terrifying story of twisted sexuality and hate seething below the surface of a seemingly normal family and of the massive investigation and nerve-shattering trial that made the unthinkable a reality.

REMEMBER THE VICTIMS
Revisado: 01-23-16
If you could sum up Precious Victims in three words, what would they be?
Lawyer's big Ego
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
For such a very sad story I felt the book was more about the prosecutor than the victims, the crime or the trial. It was clear that he found the whole process a fun game and loved to score points - and then laughingly brag about them in the book. This was such a sad crime but somewhere along the way the poor victims disappeared and it all became about Don Weber. It only reaffirms the things they say about lawyers, that the legal process is just a game to them.

Like watching your favourite soapies
Revisado: 07-04-15
Would you listen to You Are Dead again? Why?
No, but only because I rarely listen/read books more than once.
What did you like best about this story?
I have listened to every other story in this series and it's like watching my favourite soapie as I have grown to love all the characters. As usual, likeable characters with their own personalities and enough twists and turns to keep you totally hooked.
What about Daniel Weyman’s performance did you like?
I associate his voice with Roy Grace. Perfect
Any additional comments?
Definitely read/listen to these books in order or sometimes it could be hard to follow.

Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She's even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy. And then she sees something shocking. It's only a minute until the train moves on, but it's enough. Now everything's changed.

Thank Goodness I don't live in America
Revisado: 05-30-15
What made the experience of listening to Bitter Blood the most enjoyable?
The story was incredible and if was fiction I would accuse it of being too far fetched. I did find though that there was far more detail than we needed, like the pages and pages of details about the past love life of one of the victims and the extensive backgrounds of the people in the story. Most of it wasn't relevant to what occurred and the bits that were relevant could have been condensed down A LOT.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bitter Blood?
The final scene of the tragedy when it all came to a head. I won't elaborate and spoil it for others but suffice to say it made me so glad not to live in the USA. I'm sure there is much about the country I'd love but the attitude to guns and gun ownership is so different to our views in Australia. Australians visiting the USA have told me that the mindset is completely different to what we have here.
Which scene was your favorite?
A favourite? In such a gruesome story there isn't one but the main characters were certainly compelling
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, far too much detail. If I'd been reading it instead of listening to it I would have skimmed many pages/chapters that I felt were unnecessary.
Any additional comments?
The writer has obviously done a lot of research but filled the book with unnecessary detail about the families involved but very little about the police investigation and their take on what was happening before it all came to a head. I would have liked less family background and more of the investigation side pursued. I am about to buy another of this authors audiobooks though because he certainly knows how to tell a compelling, if long winded, story.

Whole lot of Twitter
Revisado: 02-07-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The author seemed to rely very heavily on Twitter for her 'research'. By the time I was halfway through I was sick to the back teeth of hearing every ones Twitter opinion on what was obviously a sad tragedy. The author also assumed that readers were well conversant with the case, being from overseas I hadn't heard of it and it took a while to understand what had actually happened.
Has Pretty Little Killers turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, but I wont be reading any more by this author
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None at all.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who has a strong Christian faith
Has Vicious Cycle turned you off from other books in this genre?
The genre is fine but I wouldn't read another book by this author.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No. It had the potential to be a good story but after only a few chapters I couldn't stand all the religious preaching and gave up. If you have a strong Christian faith you might enjoy it but if you are not religious you will find it hard to stomach.

No Impact
Revisado: 08-15-14
What did you like best about Pain and Gain? What did you like least?
Knowing this to be a true story I found both the book and the narrative left a lot to be desired. What should have been a truly horrific experience came across like an old western where everyone involved acts tough and doesn't feel anything. I find it hard to believe that a man who would have been in so much fear for his life would be laughing to himself about how stupid his captors were. Marc Schiller seems so intent on projecting a tough guy image he doesn't portray the fear and terror he must have felt.
On the factual side I am astonished that so many people were aware that he had just disappeared and all his belongings were being sold off and yet not one person approached law enforcement. A very sad reflection on societies 'not wanting to get involved' attitude.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Totally disliked the fact it was read as if reading a gung-ho novel instead of a terrifying and sad life epic. I'm not sure if that's down to the narrator or the way the book was written by the author.

Historia
Richard and Victoria Tinyes feared the worst when their thirteen year old daughter Kelly Ann vanished from their quiet suburban community of Valley Stream, New York, on March 3, 1999. But the nightmare to come was worse than they could ever imagine. Only five doors away, in the home of John and Elizabeth Golub, police found Kelly Ann's body stuffed in a plastic garbage bag. She'd been brutally beaten, stabbed, strangled, and mutilated. After weeks of intense investigation, police arrested the Golubs twenty-one-year-old son, Robert - a reclusive young man obsessed with bodybuilding and given to fits of rage. The sensational trial and subsequent conviction of Robert Golub shocked the nation and tore the once peaceful community apart. Neighbors took sides. So did the media. And no one who lived on Horton Road would ever be the same. Note on audio book: Except for the beginning and end of the book, there is no longer any music.

Repetitive
Revisado: 08-15-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No. It had a habit of constantly repeating the same things over and over and over. It could have been much better written. I felt the author concentrated more on the animosity between the two families than on the crime, victim and investigation.
What about Greg Lutz’s performance did you like?
Well read.

In and out of hospitals since birth, angelic nine-month-old Morgan Reid finally succumbed to what appeared to be Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Morgan's Texas-born mother Tanya, a nurse and devoted wife, pulled up stakes with her grieving husband Jim, and moved on. It was the best way to put the past behind them. Until their son Michael, a boy who by all accounts was terrified of his mother, began showing signs of the same affliction that stole the life of his baby sister.

Too Many Detours
Revisado: 03-07-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The author kept quoting short comments all the way through that the characters had made which became very irritating. A general description of their opinion/attitude would have been better. Plus he kept jumping all over the place so not a smooth transition
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
No. The plot would have been interesting if written by a better author. The subject matter is an intriguing one but not documented well here at all.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Christy Lynn?
Ye
Any additional comments?
Chapter two wasn't edited so all the way through the whole chapter was the sound of the narrator clearing her throat, coughing, repeating clusters of words several times to get the correct intonation and making funny noises in her quest to get it right. How this slipped past the editor is beyond me. I nearly packed it part way through this chapter as it was very frustrating but hung on in the hope it was the only chapter like this. Luckily it was.
