I enjoyed the book, there isn’t a lot of new information, but Stanny does a good job of being well-rounded and not just saying empty platitudes.

The entire book is generic “you can do it” statements mixed together with 75+ basic quotes and believe me you know them all. 4 different times, he gives you the same action to do. And while I know he works in publishing, he seems to be a “I completed all of my goals so you need to listen to me” type of guy but I have no idea after listening what those goals were. Also, the “advice” he gives about deadlines is the most privileged and BS piece of information you could ever be given. Extend your deadlines out further than you need so you don’t fail. Woo. That is great, unless you work in the service industry, work for a boss of any sort, or have a bunch of deadlines. You could just ask for more time and give people a heads up instead of pretending like you got away with something.

This author doesn’t seem to understand the word “science”. This is some wannabe preacher with a love of the law of attraction. Honestly, the book even comes off as victim blaming with a “poverty can’t be helped by learning about poverty, but teach them about wealth and they will become wealthy”. This guy mostly comes off as small-minded and delusional.

The entire thing is repeating tired old axioms about stress and anxiety. But don’t worry she proves she is totally “hip” by swearing profusely and unnecessarily. I don’t mind a well chosen swear word or twenty but this was just so she could show she was cool and different instead all it showed was “if you need to repeat the same stuff over and over, swear so it seems like it’s brand new”

Be thoughtful. Here are some exercises. Fine if you have never thought about mindful eating. If it’s not new to you this book is just tedious

Very quick read but with actionable and helpful advice. Gives ideas for managers and newbies alike and clearly did his research!

I love a good list but eat healthy and work longer hours seems like both obvious and simultaneously toxic advice. Encouraging Elon Musk like habits while claiming you also need to take care of your body and read for an hour a day and only listen to things that help you learn in your car seems like the way to be a millionaire is to never find joy outside of work.

Jeffrey Gitomer is a name you won’t soon forget if you read this book as he seems to quote himself constantly. The quotes are empty platitudes that could have come from anywhere. But don’t worry he equally praises people who wrote books in the early 1900s and claims them as new and novel ideas. His worship of Napoleon Hill is creepy. And his willingness to blame the reader for everything is immense.

Not as good as the original, but still a fun look into 80s culture with a heartwarming ending.

Diane von Furstenburg makes pretty prints but to call this a book is mildly insulting. She said it needed to be an audiobook and truthfully, it would have been better as a picture book. Heads up: G is for Green, O is for Orange which is a combination of red and yellow, and L is for Loser and we all know losers are the ones who think they aren’t losers. If any of this seems insulting, it’s a direct quote.
