Historia
Set against the backdrop of the Gordon Riots of 1780, "Barnaby Rudge" is a story of mystery and suspense which begins with an unsolved double murder and goes on to involve conspiracy, blackmail, abduction and retribution. Through the course of the novel fathers and sons become opposed, apprentices plot against their masters and Protestants clash with Catholics on the streets. And, as London erupts into riot, Barnaby Rudge himself struggles to escape the curse of his own past.

I listened to it at 1.4X speed
Revisado: 08-29-19
For the price (I paid $0.99), this is a great audio book. The production quality is pretty high, but the reader is very slow. Also the introduction from Audible is in German, and the one-part download died at chapter 4 so I had to re- download it in three parts.
Okay, maybe the production quality isn't so high.
The recording is good anyway, and the reader can do a handful of voices.
Not my favorite Dickens novel, but a fascinating look at the anti-Catholic riots in London.

Historia
The usual suspects, including Lord Emsworth and his prize pig, the Empress, line up at Blandings Castle for a Wodehousian caper that sees members of the upper-classes getting hot and bothered over a nude painting they all want to get their hands on. This is wit at its very finest, read by one of our superlative actors, who reads Wodehouse with the requisite style and panache.

The Weakest of the Blandings stories
Revisado: 02-22-19
Entertaining enough, but the plots and characters don't dovetail so tightly as they do in most Wodehouse stories.

Historia
Having dispatched Aunt Agatha’s young son, Thos, to his seaside Borstal, Bertie Wooster has been summoned to Deverill Hall, Hampshire, to lend a hand with the village entertainment. He has two other tasks on hand: one is to ensure that his old pal Catsmeat’s beloved Gertrude is never left alone with the Byronic Esmond Haddock; the other is to ensure that the Deverill aunts (of whom there are many) take goofy Gussie Fink-Nottle to their respective bosoms. But when Bertie is in charge, an imbroglio is sure to follow. Time to call on Jeeves.

Great performance of an unusual Jeeves and Bertie
Revisado: 06-11-18
A different story: no quarrel between Bertie and Jeeves in the background, some of Bertie's schemes actually succeed, and Bertie actually stands up to an aunt. It's very good throughout, and moments, like the scene where Bertie attempts to prevent Madeline's receiving a letter, are brilliant. I love it.

The Audible.com presentation needs some work
Revisado: 10-30-11
This Pimsleur series is outstanding, but pricey.
The problem with audible.com's delivery of these five lessons is that they show up as a single track, a single .mp3 file. This makes listening to them a chore. It should be possible not only to skip to a different lesson, but to skip to parts of a lesson. For example, each lesson ends with about 5 minutes of a workbook exercise. I want to skip this part as I can't do it in the car. But the single track prevents me from skipping it.
Burning it to a CD from iTunes doesn't really help: it breaks the five lessons into several sections, but it breaks them by time. So the start of a particular lesson is always in the middle of a track. When you advance to the next track, you can't tell if you're in the same lesson or the next lesson.
