Being a Jonesborough local added to my love of the stories but the characters were well written and the stories lots of fun.
Glad that it was wrapped up tight. I know that Scott is with beloved wife now - will sure miss him.

Thought this would be another “old drunk” makes good story, but it was surprisingly well crafted! I really enjoyed the characters and was eager to see what happens! Will look for more in the series.

Very disappointing for a Cornwell book. Rambling. Unskilled narrator. 30.1 seconds is not “30 seconds and 1 millisecond “

A slightly shakey tales of the LGBTQIA
Revisado: 06-21-19
The people that were featured in this book were absolutely fabulous. You could feel each story. In that way you could tell that the message they gave to the audience was one of heart and passion. Good diversity in the stories as well.
If you have any questions on what it is to be gay, queer, etc., read this. It will give you perspective on many issues that you may be confused on. The narrators were great except that they were barely there! I wish they had more time and less cheesy one-liners in-Between the stories. It is nice to have some fun stories and reflection in the book with two great mentors in the community but next time, we need more depth to their conversation. I hope many listen to this and it can help them change their mind on the overall community.
Oh and the last speaker, MESMERIZING.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

A wonderful story
Revisado: 04-10-19
This was an interesting tale indeed. I had honestly never heard of this book before getting it on audible and I was not disappointed. It was a tale of triumph, real human emotion as. A little bit of wonder. It had me empathizing with the main character again and again.
I will say the voice acting was a bit cheesy at times but no fault of the author for sure.
I recommend it as a good read if you have the time and heart.

Too close to home
Revisado: 03-11-19
This book was one that I am sincerely surprised by. I expected a comedy and the first portion of the boo memes just that, a hearty and full comedy about a young mans life. However, as the book went along and characters developed, relationships strained and the story become more rich, I was hooked. My childhood, relationships with my own parents and where I come from flower out of this book like barefoot wine at a sorority party. His humor makes the struggles described approachable but the story is completely unique and beautiful. If you enjoy comedy but have any type of empathy in you, please indulge. It was a journey that kept me up till 3am in school nights over and over and over again.
His voice acting could use some work but overall fabulous.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.
