Historia
Madeline Brimley left small-town Georgia many years ago to go to college and pursue her dreams on the stage. Her dramatic escapades are many, but success has eluded her, leaving her at loose ends. But then she gets word that not only has her beloved, eccentric Aunt Rose passed, but she's left Madeline her equally eccentric bookstore housed in an old Victorian mansion in the small college town of Enigma. But when she arrives in her beat-up Fiat to claim The Old Juniper Bookstore—and restart her life—Madeline is faced with unexpected challenges.

Always a Great Story, Poor voice choice by reader
Revisado: 07-20-21
I've listened to all the Mrs. Jeffries books. When Jennifer M Dixon became the reader they declined in listening quality. The voice for Wiggins is that of a screechy 12/13 year old boy, not a young man of 22 or so. Betsy's voice too has a screechy quality. Easy to change - please do.

Historia
He fought for Washington, served with Lincoln, witnessed Bunker Hill, and sounded the clarion against slavery on the eve of the Civil War. He negotiated an end to the War of 1812, engineered the annexation of Florida, and won the Supreme Court decision that freed the African captives of La Amistad. He served his nation as minister to six countries, secretary of state, senator, congressman, and president. John Quincy Adams was all of these things and more. In this masterful biography, award-winning author Harlow Giles Unger reveals Adams as a towering figure in the nation’s formative years.

Historia
The Game of Kings: First in The Lymond Saga. It's August 1547, and unrest in Europe is rife. Scotland, nominally ruled by 4 year old Queen Mary, is heaving with intrigue - and hot gossip. The notorious rebel, Crawford of Lymond, is rumoured to be back in Edinburgh. The city is sealed, but such things never worry 'Lymond'. As usual, he leaves a characteristic trail of hue and cry, vanished contraband, and a drunken sow.

Fabulous tale - better heard aloud than read.
Revisado: 11-07-15
Would you listen to The Game of Kings again? Why?
I would listen to it many times over the years. I had read the books several times, but it's so much easier to listen to this one due to the elegance and complexity of the story and the language. The reader is terrific.
What does Samuel Gillies bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brings the 1547/1548 era to life with his understanding of the language of the day.

Historia
A long-buried family secret resurfaces when one of Aloysius Pendergast's most implacable enemies shows up on his doorstep as a murdered corpse. The mystery has all the hallmarks of the perfect murder, save for an enigmatic clue: a piece of turquoise lodged in the stomach of the deceased. The gem leads Pendergast to an abandoned mine on the shore of California's desolate Salton Sea, which in turn propels him on a journey of discovery deep into his family's sinister past.
