Historia
A girl makes a secret sacrifice to the faerie king in this lush New York Times best-selling fantasy by author Holly Black. In the woods is a glass coffin. It rests on the ground, and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointed as knives...Hazel and her brother, Ben, live in Fairfold, where humans and the Folk exist side by side. Since they were children, Hazel and Ben have been telling each other stories about the boy in the glass coffin, that he is a prince and they are valiant knights, pretending their prince would be different from the other faeries.

Wonderful storytelling; narration was fine :)
Revisado: 12-25-19
The story was well written with entertaining twists. it was very enjoyable. The narration was decent! She did a good job telling the story; the 3 stars were because all the male characters sounded like they were suffering from severe head colds. I'd much rather her narrate male characters similar to female characters than be voiced with stuffy noses.
A wonderful audiobook! I highly recommend it!

Historia
Emily is a normal girl working at Big Burger who has the unfortunate luck to look exactly like Big City's superhero darling, the Chosen One. It has been the bane of her existence, as it disrupts her life and the lives of those around her when supervillains come knocking, wanting to prove their mettle by fighting the Chosen One. With common sense and years of rage built up inside, she usually serves their butts to them on a platter, asking, "Did you want fries with that?"

A light-hearted superhero story with a dash of wlw
Revisado: 07-04-18
I loved this book; it was a funny/silly story with a slightly serious undertone (if you stop and think about it).
The author did not dramatize the story; they kept it lighthearted, pg, and quick-paced. I will definitely read it again when I need a little pick-me-up.
To enjoy the story you need to either expect some nonsensical developments, or have a good suspension of disbelief. The plot is there, but it is speedy (think the antithesis of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time), and the characters are introduced, but the main character is the most developed; the rest are just plot-movers or fun fanservice. :)

Historia
Homicide detective Mandi Murphy had seen enough bloodshed on the streets of Houston to last a lifetime. After a botched drug bust left a friend dead, she wanted out of the city. Peaceful little Sawmill Springs seemed like the perfect spot to start over. Six weeks on patrol proved the town to be as quiet and serene as she'd imagined.

Decent story, occasionally cringeworthy, fine narr
Revisado: 08-02-17
-Story was fairly well-written
-had some cringe-y cliched moments
-had a sex scene that came out of the left field
-characters were not Mary Sues (hooray)
- narrator had a pleasant voice
- disliked voice she used for Murphy, but wasn't terrible to listen to, just not what I envisioned
- seemed to relish all the scenes
- sometimes was a little slow to read, but probably because was narrating dialogue with heavy southern drawl.

Painfully simplistic storytelling
Revisado: 07-25-17
It was very much, "Character A went from point A to point B. Character B sighed."
There was little to no characterization; most of them were Mary Sues.
There were also contradictions. Characters would indicate they had difficulty trusting, and in other instances would immediately divulge their life story.
This is definitely a story I would categorize as a hurt/comfort slash fiction. Most fan fiction I've read online for various shows is better written. It could be that the writer of this book is unused to developing their own characters.
If you're in the mood for a soap opera, have a soft spot for Mary Sues, and have an incredible aptitude for suspension of disbelief, knock yourself out.

Revisado: 12-21-16
- expected a light wlw fantasy novel, and expectations were met
- good narrator, though Celeste voice was a little whiny for me
- not necessarily exciting nor surprising, but still enjoyable. I would read more. Think the literary complexity of Twilight.
* clumsy character development if any
* uses common tropes without storytelling mastery to compensate.
* weird pacing
Maybe this was an earlier novel in this author's career? Some of his others were a bit better. :)

Lukewarm story, Fine narration
Revisado: 12-02-16
- winding, weirdly paced plot
- stop-go-out-of-the-left-field character development
- fine narration
This book had the simplicity of a children's novel. Many occurrences were never explained nor expounded upon. Character interactions were bland and predictable. Weird events occurred, but I couldn't appreciate them, because everything else felt so . . . stale.
The premise was tantalizing, the follow through was lackluster. I wanted so much more.
Ms. Plummer delivered fine narration. At times I appreciated her delivery, and at others I found it annoying. In some cases, it was simply me reacting oddly to the slight southern drawl.
I may pick up a sample of the book from amazon, and see if it was the combination of writing and narration that made the experience so bland.

Great Story, Meh Characters Voices w/ Head colds
Revisado: 08-16-16
The character voices bugged me a bit, especially when the narrating woman (there's 2 narrators) voiced male characters (everyone had head colds). Towards the last couple hours it stopped pushing me out of the story. This is one of the first audio books to which I've listened.
