Historia
Ten-year-old Nem has just witnessed her mother's brutal murder and her life appears destined for tragedy. Until, that is, she finds her mother‘s old green journal which holds an incredible secret. This innocent looking book seems to contain the power over luck. As she uses it, Nem discovers the diary keeps a strange kind of karmic balance, that in gifting someone good fortune she must steal another's first. All it takes is a simple entry. There's dangers though, and not just for others but also for Nem.

Too much!
Revisado: 02-24-20
The idea behind this story is a good one, but there are words, upon words, upon words. At one point, the book states that the people who work at the book store laugh at Stephen King for his extraneous use of words per page. My mind kept wandering off- too much repeating- as if us readers are imbeciles and cannot follow the story without constant reminders.

Best Narration Ever!
Revisado: 03-17-16
What did you love best about You?
Santino Fontana is hands down the best narrator I have ever listened to. He really brought Joe Goldberg alive
Who was your favorite character and why?
Joe. Is it weird that I'm rooting for the sociopathic serial killer?

Good Until the Very Middle
Revisado: 01-31-16
If you could sum up Luckiest Girl Alive in three words, what would they be?
A disappointing ending.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Thats it? Really?
Any additional comments?
I was on my edge of the seat the whole time- I just knew there was going to be a psychotic twist at the end that I never saw coming. . . but the joke was on me- it seems that the apex of the action was reached in the middle of the book- the ending was a dull fizzle.

Historia
An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Oh, my goodness! I'm so glad I chose to listen to this book on Audible rather than read it. Reese Witherspoon did such a fantastic job narrating this book, I can't imagine anyone else attempting to read it. IMHO, Witherspoon's narration brought the book to life, and she made a good story fantastic!

Historia
This is the story of 17-year-old Prenna James, who immigrated to New York when she was 12. Except Prenna didn’t come from a different country. She came from a different time - a future where a mosquito-borne illness has mutated into a pandemic, killing millions and leaving the world in ruins. Prenna and the others who escaped to the present day must follow a strict set of rules: never reveal where they’re from, never interfere with history, and never, ever be intimate with anyone outside their community. Prenna does as she’s told, believing she can help prevent the plague that will one day ravage the Earth.

Dangling ending
Revisado: 12-01-15
Any additional comments?
Ann Brashares has a knack for weaving an enthralling story, only to have the ending left dangling for the reader, and The Here and Now is no exception. There are too many questions left unanswered at the end of the book, but otherwise, an enjoyable read. I'm giving it 5 stars, because sometimes I think unanswered questions are a good thing, my own feelings of frustration not withstanding.

Historia
Colin Hancock is giving his second chance his best shot. At 28, he's focused only on walking a straight line - getting his teaching degree, working out at the gym religiously, and avoiding all the places and people that proved so destructive in his earlier life. The last thing he's looking for is a serious relationship. But when Maria Sanchez crosses paths with him on a rainswept night in North Carolina, his plans are upended in a way that will rattle the foundations of his carefully structured life.

That accent, though...
Revisado: 11-15-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book if you're a Nicholas Sparks fan- typical Nicholas Sparks formula: nice girl meets bad boy, bad boy saves girl from terrible peril. Overall, an enjoyable story.
Any additional comments?
That accent the narrator used for Lilly, though….oh, my goodness- much too much!

Historia
I didn’t ask for any of this. I didn’t ask to be some kind of hero. But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado - taking you with it - you have no choice but to go along, you know? Sure, I’ve read the books. I’ve seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little bluebirds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can’t be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion.

A Snarkfest
Revisado: 10-09-15
How could the performance have been better?
The reader chose to use a very sarcastic, snarky tone for Amy, which didn't work for the entire book. I definitely saw Amy as sarcastic in the beginning, but I felt that she underwent many transformations in Oz, which made the snarkiness annoying. I wanted to click my heels three times to end this book.
Any additional comments?
I had so much hopes for this book, but none of the characters were likable. I really wanted to like Amy as a heroine protagonist, but the sarcastic voice used in narration prevented me from forming any sort of relationship relationship with her.
