Historia
Terrible cave trolls, tree beasts from the Faraway Lands, even the wizard-thing of the north—Dregg of the House of Brute has defeated them all and become legend of Thisearth! But none of his triumphant exploits have dampened the screams of a lifetime of combat that haunt him. Beaten and withered, he has chosen to live out a life of quiet solitude, until one day....

Good Fantasy
Revisado: 12-20-23
This is a true fantasy action adventure fashioned after Beowulf. It skips around between flashbacks and the current quest which could be confusing, but it is written clear enough to follow. The description is almost poetic and the world building simple and easy to follow. Nice to read about a hero who has a conscience, intelligence, and a sort of virtue. Complete with fantasy adventure elements and dramatic description, the story follows Dregg as he goes after the Glob to save the people of Izzic. A listened to this on Audio, so it was even more dramatic and kept me intrigued from beginning to satisfying end. Looking forward to the next book.

An eye opener
Revisado: 07-15-23
I listened to this book on Audible. It was very helpful. All-in-all this was a real eye-opener. For one, it helped me see that my adult son definitely displays many ADHD symptoms. Though he was diagnosed at a young age, after listening to this book, I can see how he has progressed over the years. I was able to pinpoint and label certain symptoms that manifest more than others. This audiobook has helped me to define certain actions more clearly. It was also revealing in that some of my son’s actions now totally make sense. I think what helped me the most was the “reframing” exercise, and I am going to start doing that when we have issues to deal with that are affected by my son’s ADHD. I learned that, if we foster a growth mindset, we can all help with the negative thoughts which frequently arise and are a huge factor in dealing with problems as they come up. My son also suffers from depression, and I think after listening to this book I can see how we can help with that. Perfectionism and polarization are huge, being one of the things we see most often, and I feel better equipped to help manage those two big issues. We can harness his hyper-focus as one of his superpowers! I love the helpful steps and information and have hope that we can help my son’s ADHD be better managed by our family. Great book for anyone confronted with ADHD on any level.

Historia
Imogen, captain of the Irish charter boat, Mystic Pirate, has little time for friends and doesn’t trust her lovers. Perhaps the real issue is that she can’t trust herself, as she hasn’t yet found a good explanation for why otherworldly images dance before her eyes. Half-convinced that she is one step away from losing her mind, just like her mother, Imogen prefers to spend her life at sea with the only family she knows—her crew members.

Ok
Revisado: 02-12-23
I struggled to finish this because it was a bit too easy in that the danger was too easily resolved. The story was mostly Imogen's neurotic worries and I didn't like her because she was too whiney. She never seemed to develop as a character or a queen. The Fae were cool as was world building but I just couldn't get into it as a first in a series.
