refreshing, appealing characters. excellent plot development. my only objection was the frankly pornographic detailing of a love scene. ( it read like an instruction manual.)
otherwise, I really really did enjoy this book. also Susan Bennett is one of my all time favorite book performers, and she does a great job here

Celebrity in Death is a jewel!

J.D.Robb/Nora Roberts has again given us an excellent, superior mystery ! Intriguing, well-sketched new characters help to move the story forward at a good pace. All our old favorites are back as well, of course, and all are superbly brought to life by Susan Ericksen! Her ability to create distinct, unique, and easily recognizable voices ( especially for the recurring characters we love so so much!!) makes this series of novels among my very favorite audiobooks.
And I give Celebrity in Death an EXTRA STAR for having ZERO agonizing descriptions of torture, child abuse or rape. (I personally find such material very distressing, even painful to read/listen to.)

Another Great Book Performance by Susan Ericksen!!

She brings all our favorite J.D.Robb characters to wondrous life (vile bad guys, too!) With distinct, recognizable voice characterizations used consistently across the whole series, we can tell who's speaking before the text reveals that individual's name. And when three or four characters are arguing, interrupting and talking over each other - and the listener can always recognize them, can tell who's saying what - well, that's an amazing display of skill. That is artistry! Thank you, Susan!

Lost interest by Chapter 8

Reader's performance style makes the heroine sound wimpy and ineffectual, and there is little individuality, little that is recognizable in the way the main characters are voiced. Disappointing.

Mentally Strong People Choose Other Books!

I found this so very depressing I couldn't take more than the first couple chapters. After awhile I just wanted to say to the author, "Oh, shut up! I can't bear to hear one more word about what strong, perfect people do!" I didn't feel inspired by this book. I felt crushed.

Held my interest, but the author bypasses the most intriguing question his view of events raises. He claims Lincoln knew the south had the legal right to secede from the union. He doesn't say why Lincoln chose to save it, even though the cost of the fight weighed so heavily upon him.

Too much sex, not enough storyline. Characters stereotypical, minimally drawn. When I purchased this ebook, "Insatiable Press" wasn't shown in the summary. If it had been, I would have realized what was being offered, and passed this book by.

A fun series!

I especially enjoyed Tavia Gilbert's performance. Hope she continues to be the voice of this series. Not many readers can convey strong emotions of terror (it is a ghost story after all) without becoming shriek-like. Shrieky? She also conveys the Southern accent with a light touch, so it gently informs the story without overwhelming it.
