Research + Practice
Revisado: 08-05-16
Yes, I would say so. I believe this book gives a good insight of what’s going on in a baby brain. I like the fact he shows both extremes of the topics he presents, with all the research to back it up and then helps you choose without telling you specifically what to do. I also like the summary at the end, especially in this audio version, since it helps you sum up all he’s said.
I would recommend to parents who like to know more about how to deal with babies and toddlers. I also believe it provides answers to questions new parents may have. However, I think that it’s not easy to follow all the advice… !

Historia
Ellen and Andy's first year of marriage doesn't just seem perfect, it is perfect. There is no question how deep their devotion is, and how naturally they bring out the best in each other. But one fateful afternoon, Ellen runs into Leo for the first time in eight years. Leo, the one who brought out the worst in her. Leo, the one who left her heartbroken with no explanation. Leo, the one she could never quite forget. When his reappearance ignites long-dormant emotions, Ellen begins to question whether the life she's living is the one she's meant to live.

Perfect timing!
Revisado: 08-05-16
If you could sum up Love the One You're With in three words, what would they be?
Just perfect timing!
What other book might you compare Love the One You're With to and why?
I believe I could compare it to E.G. Something Borrowed because it kind of has the same topic behind it: in relationships, timing is really important and could change the future.
What does Kathleen McInerney bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think she captures the confusion and innocence of the main character. I believe the way she reads and her voice help the listener get into her feelings. I could almost imagine the whole body language just from the way she reads something the character is saying.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I almost did, actually. I guess it had to do with the fact I could empathize so well with the main character and what she was going through!
Any additional comments?
Highly recommend to those who are superficially confused about marriage and want to listen a different experience.

Historia
Highlighting the fascinating link between a child’s neurological development and the way a parent reacts to misbehavior, No-Drama Discipline provides an effective, compassionate road map for dealing with tantrums, tensions, and tears - without causing a scene. Defining the true meaning of the “d” word (to instruct, not to shout or reprimand), the authors explain how to reach your child, redirect emotions, and turn a meltdown into an opportunity for growth.

Easy to follow and practical information
Revisado: 08-05-16
Would you consider the audio edition of No-Drama Discipline to be better than the print version?
No. I believe this is the kind of book you want to have a hard copy of. Basically because you may want to go back to re-read certain parts and since it gives you steps, I believe the visual part might be just helpful. However, listening provides a really good glimpse of what the strategy is.
What was one of the most memorable moments of No-Drama Discipline?
I love the way the authors empathize with parents, saying that this is not a method that will work every time with every child. I know they are not just trying to sell a method, they refer a lot to times in which it doesn't work, and how frustrating it could be. I appreciate the honesty.
Which scene was your favorite?
Well, this book doesn’t have scenes, right? But if I had to pick a part, I would pick the whole explanation about empathy. I had never thought about it so deeply, and it has helped improve my relationship not only with my daughter, but husband and other family members.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Like I said, the different parts in which the authors would show a real ending, in which no strategy, word or maneuver worked with kids and how frustrating that could be.
Any additional comments?
I recommend it to parents who like to know about ways of dealing with discipline in a more thoughtful, emotional way. BUT, I HIGHLY recommend to teachers and care-givers, because it could change the way one deals with little ones.

"I've experienced a whole lot the last few years and I have a lot to share. So I hope that you'll take a moment to sit back, relax and enjoy the words I've put together for you in this book. I think you'll find I've left no stone unturned, no door unopened, no window unbroken, no rug unvacuumed, no ivories untickled. What I'm saying is, let us begin, shall we?" (Ellen DeGeneres)

Funny, but not haha all the time
Revisado: 08-05-16
Would you listen to Seriously...I'm Kidding again? Why?
Again? I don't think so. It's the kind of book you enjoy only once. Like watching her show and listening to her great jokes. Listening to it again would make it a bit boring since I know what's she is going to say.
Would you be willing to try another book from Ellen DeGeneres? Why or why not?
I would, but I think I would let some time go by before doing so. She's a great person, comedian and writer but she often talks about the same topics and sometimes the jokes are too American, I wish it would be a bit more international for a change!
What does Ellen DeGeneres bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
A LOT. I wouldn't have bought it if someone else read it! It feels like she's having a conversation with you, and her way of speaking really makes it funny.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Laugh a lot. She's funny! I was kind of expecting to laugh even more, though!
Any additional comments?
I love the fact that behind the jokes and the situations she really conveys a strong message which can be inspiring!

A bit too unreal but enjoyable!
Revisado: 08-05-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would, if my friend likes stories of characters that are stuck in one way of doing stuff. The main character is someone who has suffered in the past and now seems to be too fearful about the future. It was hard for me to step in her shoes. I highly recommend if someone is interested in well-structured characters with strong features.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Nora Roberts uses dogs as characters all the time, and I love the way the animals merge in the plot. I also enjoy the main character's mother who seems to be an exaggerated way of modern-society mom.
What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I believe that the narration is pretty good basically because of the way she reads the Russian characters and the way the voice portrays the sweet, innocent ways of the main character.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I guess that at the beginning I was able to empathize with the girl partying out... I guess that being raised in such a way brings different reactions to early experiences in life. However I don't think I would say it moved me, it just felt different.
Any additional comments?
It's a long book with ups and downs, the characters are well-structured but sometimes I feel they are too structured to be human. The setting is like another character, which is something I really appreciate.

What made the experience of listening to The Life We Bury the most enjoyable?
What I liked the most was the fact that The Life We Bury has characters of different ages and types, all valuable for different reasons. The protagonist is rather young, but organized and responsible... there is also the mom, who is exactly the opposite, so one can relate with any of the characters. I also liked the mystery of the book... although it might be predictable at times.
What other book might you compare The Life We Bury to and why?
I guess it could be similar to The Girl of the Train, from the point of view that there is a mystery and someone is trying to find out the truth. However, there is little romance, The Life We Bury is really for mystery lovers, although I figured out the end in the middle of the book, which makes it predictable, yet enjoyable.
What does Zach Villa bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He's a good narrator, specially beacuase he manages to introduce the characters with a slight change in his voice. His way of speaking is ok and enjoyable. He actually sounds just like the main character, and that makes you think he's actually telling you the story.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I guess that the conversations with Carl were interesting and important to the book. I don't want to spoil the ending so I'll just say that Carl's life is really what moved me. I wouldn't say though that it is a book that made me cry or something like that. I guess I am not the kind of reader who gets that emotional.
Any additional comments?
Good mystery but predictable ending. I love the characters!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Fiction but not fiction, too technical
Revisado: 01-26-16
What made the experience of listening to The Martian the most enjoyable?
Well, the Martian not only is a great story, but became kind of famous becuase of the movie. It's got a great plot, interesting characters and I can tell the level of research that the author must have done. I can see how naturally the facts are introduced. What I liked the most is the fact that it is not futuristic at all, on the contrary, it could easily be happening right now!
Would you recommend The Martian to your friends? Why or why not?
I would recommend this book to those who like chemistry, physics, and simply enjoy math. The book is not recommended for romantics or people who is looking for a very human point of view. This book has the human component, but it is most interesting because of the way the main character is able to survive from the technology and knowledge point of view, not necessarily for the struggle as a human being.
Have you listened to any of R. C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't listened him before. This perfomance is good, except for the part in which the book had letters that were spelled, and the reader spelled them too, which is hard to understand when it is an audiobook. Long phrases were difficult to follow. However, the rest of the performance was great, he would change voices slightly with each of the characters taking into account the place they are from, (e.g. Russian astronaut). Easy to understand and overall enjoyable.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I don't think so. Simply too technical for me. Sometimes I would simply get lost with all the maths and chemistry references.
Any additional comments?
Good book to be compared to the movie, I think there are several interesting points to talk about.
