Historia
Women’s identity has long been stifled by a limited set of archetypes, found everywhere in pictures from art history’s classics to advertising, while women artists have been overlooked and held back from shaping more empowering roles. In this impassioned book, art historian Catherine McCormack asks us to look again at what these images have told us to value, opening up our most loved images - from those of Titian and Botticelli to Picasso and the Pre-Raphaelites.

Love it!
Revisado: 09-30-21
I haven't even finished the whole book and am already recommending it to my friends. The stories and analyses are both fascinating and on-point. Some of the present-day connections revealed really makes you think twice before mindlessly consuming media.
I wish there could be a PDF files with pictures of the art works mentioned in the writing even though I didn't mind Googling. This would be one of the books I am interested in getting a physical copy for.
Many thanks to the writer and team. This is such a good read!

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

Breathtaking performance
Revisado: 04-24-18
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, to anyone who's interested in learning about contemporary black experience in America and the BLM movement. The reading performance is absolutely amazing, giving each character their distinct voice so you know who is talking even before they tell you. Very impressed. Finished it in 3 days.

Dan Stevens RULES
Revisado: 09-04-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Murder on the Orient Express to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version so I'm not in the place to make that call. But the audio performance completely blows me away!
What did you like best about this story?
It's one of the Agatha Christie classics that I never managed to read until now. I have always loved her style and stories.
What about Dan Stevens’s performance did you like?
The voice/accent changes are magnificent. Remembering all the characters from a conventional detective story has always been one of the most challenging tasks for a reader even in print versions. But Dan gave each one of them such a distinct and memorable voice, telling them apart became incredibly easy. And his mastery of different accents amazes me every time I resume listening.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Nothing extreme on the outside. But I am extremely amazed.
