I didn't know there was such a thing as a noir story settled in the present day South. I stand corrected. I listened to all three books so far and must say I like them. There is a thread of a plot that runs through all three books and a plot for itself in each one as well. I very much like the first person perspective and that you never know more than the chief protagonist. The reading is good. Mr. Lindstrom does a nice job with different voices and different accents. He can get monotone at times but that's also the key of his voice which is pretty low. Pleasant but low and smooth.
I will be back for future instalments.

I used to really like Mr. Baldacci's writing. Lately I can still admire his technique but the stories are getting old. It's literary junk food - and not the good kind. The story, which are really stories, are hairbrained. The female lead has become a mere prompt so that Decker can share his superior ideas with us all. Decker used to solve cases because of his memory which was a cute little touch in the stories, now that's only a byline. He used to be imperfect, fat and socially awkward. None of that anymore, he is now just a regular guy with Sherlock Holmes like deduction skills. I remained faithful to this author and his protagonists for too long.
Where did the Camel Club go? King and Maxwell? Luther Whitney?
