The real world has been stressful and, for the last few days this has been my cure, and it's a good one.

The story follows a young woman who wakes up as a dragon, dealing with new dragon instincts and a new fantasy world. This kind of premise I've seen before, but this version was so much better executed.

My only negative was how long it took for Draca to come to terms with the fantasy elements of her new reality. But this was never intrusive enough in the story to diminish my enjoyment and I know I'm overly sensitive about this kind of pet peeve.

Overall, this is exactly the kind of Isekai or mild LitRPG to relax to after a long day when too much action would be just more noise to an already stressful day. I literally curled up with a blanket and chilled to this book like a warm fire on a cold winter day and I definitely want more.

I love the detail the author puts into making this world seem real and lived in by more than Milo himself. Lots of other characters with their own stories we only hatch glimpses of. My one regret is how slow some of the potentially character influencing events, people you know are going to meet, mysteries that must be addressed but are left unsolved for future installments, etc. Overall amazing work. But, once again I must beg for more as soon as possible. I need to know about Milo and his family, what's happening with Beatrice, and learn more about the mysteries surrounding and swallowing poor Milo at every corner. it almost feels like I can't get a handle on those plots because those don't get enough time to develop which leaves the book feeling like a half of or even a single act of a complete story. Regardless this series is one of my favorites and I'm picking up both the Kindle and audible versions at every opportunity.

This had an amazing balance of adventure, emotion, humor, love, fantastic and realistic elements, and more. All of it blended so well together I have to say I'm in stunned awe. This was almost a blemish free story, but that ending! The 2nd book can't get here fast enough! It was almost like the MCs were getting too comfortable and needed a shake up. Alright, cool, but doing so much in such a short time and leaving so much hanging. Didn't commit the sin of an unskilled cliff hanger, so clearly the author has talent, but damn, have you no consideration for what this is going to do to people like me that will now have to wait? Well, saw the Kindle version is out now, normally I'd wait for the audible but I can't. Still bring that next installment to audible soon please. This is a gem better enjoyed as a series you can binge. All the same, thank you for an excellent stand alone until that last bit.

The first few books were all about reacting to the high pressures from the gangs against Gary's Werewolf System and his friends. Now and old door closes and a new one opens. And so begins a new phase in his life. This was a great story and although I got some of the expected follow-ups I thought needed to happen after the last book, the one I've been waiting for really is only teased at the end of this one. Still, I've already pre-ordered the next installment and can't wait.

I love it when the little guy comes up from humble origins to win the rat race. And Milo didn't disappoint. He's smart and so rat like in his life, I finding myself cheering at how well he incorporated that into his virtual and real lives. I want to see the series continue. Maybe get some answers on the siblings that were left unanswered, which I also imagine was saved for book 2. Overall very little negative to say and I blew through the book very quickly. I love intelligent MCs that are, you know, actually intelligent as opposed to an author dumbing down everyone else. Well done. I love how the investigators were on top of things but still were a step behind for most of it. And that epilog, was that a pokemon reference? Ha!

This was written very well, it was funny in the right places and serious the the others. It honestly hit exactly the right mix I needed to escape. Which, after the week I had, this is probably the only reason I made it through. So a very special thank you to the author for that, even though I found it later. I wish the book was longer, and covered more of the overall story. This is clearly a well thought-out series that will last several books. Each has a nice soft arc to them, so it's not just a bigger volume split unreasonably. The author knows what they're doing. I already feel like I know and love this family quite a bit. The characters were all distinct and felt very real while also carrying some of that whimsical comedy that happens in life or in great family vacations. And that what this was to me, a vacation. I'll be going through all the books as soon as I can. I'd read this off of kinds but Jeff Hays did an excellent job narrating as usual and it was super fun with him reading it.

This is a hidden gem and needs far more of an audience for what this is. This beats the snot out of a lot of other LitRPG / Isekai books out there, imho.

Get it, trust me or at least your ears, you'll thank me for it.

This was excellent. There were places in the first book that were a little slow but this one did not suffer from that at all.

I have to admit I found a story I love when I can't put it down even when its time for sleep. It's happened before, but extremely rarely. Lost the first day of my Staycation to finishing this one. And I was not disappointed. I was very satisfied. Without giving away spoilers there is one spot I found extremely hard to deal with in the climax during the end. It wasn't bad from a story perspective, just the opposite, the kind of thing that lights the fires in characters. And, yes, I know reality can be extremely harsh and unforgiving, but seeing that in a story like this was a little hard for me to deal with. There was an "upside", although pyric, so I made it through with that at least. I suppose it's just a "trigger" issue for me, but I certainly am not going to put down the series unless I see much more of that. In fact, I need to beg that the next installment get here soon, so hopefully I can see more "resolution" since just one on the side seems like it's not enough. Overall the story and system is solid, extremely consistent, believable, and I loved it. But, I also saw what I thought might be a plot hole. Although there is more to learn before I find out if there actually is a reason for what happened or not. Sorry, it's hard to explain without spoilers. Let's just say that a rooftop situation not working the same as a similar key event that we've been tracking since the climax of the first book doesn't make much sense to me, yet. At this point there can be a valid explanation we have yet to learn, but I wanted to call that out since I truly loathe major inconsistencies that pull me out of the story. Regardless, I loved this book, and this series, and I'm going to pre-order the next one as soon as it's available to do so.

A young intellectual demands her fantasy world makes sense

This was a great find. I'm a bit of an armchair scientist myself and can see the raw drive to know and make rational sense of everything really well reflected in this little girl. Although it was realistic to have so much survival based action in the beginning, and she was certainly self conscious she was costing on luck to survive, IMHO it was a bit much. Still, I chalk it up to the Everett Many Worlds model being correct in this universe and we're just following along the lucky Alice who survived. After the survival bit, it gets much more believable on the story front. In any case it was enjoyable throughout. I would have liked more of a sense of completion to some of the questions and plot points I had, which makes it frustratingly hard that I'll have to wait for the next book to see some movement on that. But when it comes out, I will get it. I would have switched to the Kindle version of only that was available but the two editions are synced. Narration was really good but had a few clips I could tell were different takes. Not enough of an issue to cost a star, but room for improvement.

I recommend this to people who are more critical of the fantastical elements of fantasy because you can just feel how she is slowly closing the gap on the fantasy to make it reality. It's a unique feeling I have not seen in any other fantasy or litrpg or there. I'm excited to see more.

Nathan is a Min Max'er

Revisado: 12-17-23

First the good. Writing was well done as was the narration. Nathan's faults were not forgiven automatically with plot armor (a common problem in the genre). The bad, Nathan is an academic with an overly sheltered and idealistic view of his own world. But he isn't on earth anymore and those faults open up glaring weaknesses he must deal with. If he had played games more he probably wouldn't have the flexibility and range problems he developed by being single minded about his development. Some of his choices can be forgiven for being the only clear option in a bad situation, and living with long term consequences from short term solutions is good writing. But to then double down without addressing the weaknesses that clearly result from those decisions makes me shake my head. The fact those decisions' weaknesses are played out in the conflicts Nathan faces is good writing, even if the MC can be a bit dim for opening himself up to that. Had he plot armor protecting him from those mistakes, I would have put the book down. But this was good. Good enough for me to pick up a second book.
