I am a big fan of anything Nora McInerny writes. She did a great job with this one. I wish she would record more books from other people because she has an excellent narrator voice. I’m looking forward to her next book.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

I love hearing how someone as talented as James Taylor grew up and a behind the scenes look. He has a topsy turvy life and we only heard about his first 21 years. Hope he does a 2nd and 3rd act.

A middle-aged, overweight, and acrophobic newspaper editor Tom Ryan and a little dog, Atticus M. I hike. So, this really hit it out of the park for me. The dog and the author's journey was amazing. While listening I hiked Mount Washington. No spoiler, the is excellent ending. If you hike, or love dogs or want to live vicariously through Tom Ryan....get this one. BTW...the accent: priceless

Not good for me
Revisado: 09-03-19
I live in the deep south and reall found this book to really overdo the Southern colloquialism. It was so annoying to hear the "lawd a mercy..." "sakes alive..." gratuitously put in everywhere. I guess I need more challenging literature. I could not finish it.

Historia
Why would a middle-aged businessman who had never even spent the night outdoors, attempt to hike the entire Appalachian Trail? Bill Walker, a former commodities trader in Chicago and London, and an avid walker, had developed a virtual obsession to hike this historic 2,175 mile footpath in one hiking season. In the spring of 2005 he set off from his home state of Georgia, hoping to make it to Mount Katahdin in northern Maine before the arrival of winter.

Great story told from a real person
Revisado: 06-20-16
If you could sum up Skywalker: Close Encounters on the Appalachian Trail in three words, what would they be?
Bill Walker is an interesting character. He is over 7 feet tall and has a down home way of speaking. As he reads along, you find yourself correcting his pronunciation. One could chalk that up to Southern, but I am southern and do not mispronounce words. But, it is endearing and he weaves a funny and informative tale along the AT. I liked it.
It was relaxed and he tells of his mistakes as well as his triumphs.
He gave me good insight into my sections hikes of the trail.
Have you listened to any of Bill Walker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. Getting High. I plan to hike the Annapurna Circuit next year and I gave me insight into the challenges there.

Once again, David Sedaris brings together a collection of essays so uproariously funny and profoundly moving that his legions of fans will fall for him all over again. He tests the limits of love when Hugh lances a boil from his backside, and pushes the boundaries of laziness when, finding the water shut off in his house in Normandy, he looks to the water in a vase of fresh cut flowers to fill the coffee machine.

I like the celebrity voices that she brings into the narrative. I also enjoyed her interaction with the producer of parks and Recreation. The last chapter is my favorite because she and involves a audience. I Love Amy Poehler and hate to say anything bad, however there was a bit too much name dropping. But, it still is a great listen
