Quirky, Twisty and Perfectly Cozy!
Revisado: 02-28-24
This book has “all the things”! A cleverly described setting that makes you investigate on the internet? Check! Characters so well developed and relatable who make you chuckle out loud? Check! A quintessential “cozy” plot with plenty of twists? Check! Zara Ramm narrating with her never disappointing aplomb? Check! That feeling of wanting to read another installment immediately when finished? Check!
As you can see, I really enjoyed this book. I would like to especially thank the author for not ruining the story with foul language. It is so refreshing to not have my ears assaulted with it while “escaping” from a world rampant with overuse.

Historia
Fiona, Sue, and Daisy, three retired ladies who volunteer at the local charity shop, Dogs Need Nice Homes, can’t believe their favorite customer is dead. Eighty-six-year-old Sarah Brown was found murdered in her hallway by her delivery man, a domino clutched in her hand—with a name scratched on it. When another person is found dead with a domino in their hand, and with the police making no progress, the ladies will need to help unmask a serial killer. At least they have Fiona’s scruffy-haired terrier cross to assist them.

Pleasurable cozy surprise!
Revisado: 02-18-24
I so enjoyed this book! Zara Ramm is one of my favorite narrators and she brought the well-developed characters to life. Mr. Boland’s concept of the quintessential British cozy mystery is spot on! I felt like I was a part of the story while listening to the adventures of the Charity Shop Detectives. I am definitely looking forward to hearing more about them in the future!

Intriguing storylines and great narration!
Revisado: 05-12-23
I really enjoy this series which does not glorify criminals but focuses on the steadfast detectives who catch them. The narrator’s voice is perfect for this “noir-ish” series. You won’t be sorry that you listened!

It’s spring and Three Pines is reemerging after the harsh winter. But not everything buried should come alive again. Not everything lying dormant should reemerge. But something has. As the villagers prepare for a special celebration, Armand Gamache and Jean-Guy Beauvoir find themselves increasingly worried. A young man and woman have reappeared in the Sûreté du Québec investigators’ lives after many years. The two were young children when their troubled mother was murdered, leaving them damaged, shattered. Now they’ve arrived in the village of Three Pines. But to what end?

The best Louise Penny yet!
Revisado: 01-17-23
Louise Penny has once again written a beautiful work of prose laced with mystery, intrigue, and suspense! I was once again transported into Quebec and into the mind of Inspector Gamache. The camaraderie her characters evoke on the page resonates with me in a most profound way. Robert Bathurst’s narration had me on the edge of my seat, then laughing, then crying, and right back to the edge! Be warned, however, once you’ve read one book in this series you WILL be hooked! (Which isn’t a bad thing at all!)

It really is as good as all the 5 star reviews!
Revisado: 11-12-21
I admit I was hesitant to purchase even with the awesome reviews. I can only say that I’m so glad I did and you will be too! I was immediately drawn into this intriguing story. The author’s descriptive prose was just enough and the characters well-defined. The story has everything: action, mystery, unrequited love, true love, all within a Christmas setting (but not like a cheesy Christmas movie). Thank you Mr. Klavan and Mr. Barr for a truly inspired story and performance!

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Revisado: 10-06-17
I loved the rising action and suspense in this book. Mr. Cline’s characters are believable and rooting for them is natural. Mr. Wheaton’s narration makes the whole thing sync perfectly. I can’t recommend enough to anyone who knows the 80s, likes mystery, action and suspense!

First off, start with the first novel, "Still Life" and continue from there. The characters and setting are so real you'll wish you could interview/visit them! A "perfectly imperfect" crime fighting superhero without wings but with a heart of gold. Mystery buffs, add this to your "essential" reads list!

Narration is SPOT ON, characters are fully and uniquely developed and the plot is timely. I am looking forward to another endeavor by this author. Loved it!

Revisado: 12-22-16
Ray Porter is outstanding here! Several LOL moments and easy to follow narration despite "switching" from character to character. There's plenty of Star Trek/Star Wars references so I wasn't bogged down in the space/computer/technology jargon. Looking forward to the next installment of Mr. Taylor's series!
