Historia
Running from a world which wants him dead, ex-detective Sergeant Jake Pettman journeys to the isolated town of Blue Falls, Maine, home of his infamous murderous ancestors. But Jake struggles to hide from who he is, and when a child disappears, he finds himself drawn into an investigation that shares no parallels to anything he has ever seen before.

Good Mystery. Horrible Maine Accent.

I have generally enjoyed Wes Markin’s books, tho they can be quite grizzly and violent. And I love Aubrey Parsons’ gravelly voice and look for new series that he narrates. But. This one. Whew—ee. Mr. Parsons needs to learn how a New Englander, at least, speaks. Maine is different, but I’d be okay with a generic NE accent— not the hillbilly Southern twang he applied to the inhabitants of this new series. Very distracting! And, with the graphic descriptions of dog fighting, I’d recommend taking a pass, at least on the audio version. Maybe reading it would be better since you could skim the truly horrific animal cruelty scenes.
