Fantasy romance with a dash of spice

This book is perfect for readers of fantasy romance who enjoy a dash of steamy scenes. I would describe it as a fae bachelor mixed with a magical quest—two tropes that I find can be a lot of fun. Other tropes include 1) poor heroine and rich hero; 2) love triangle; 3) making deals with fae; 4) slow burn; and many others. If you are looking for heavy smut, this probably isn't the book for you. This was a delight to read, and I look forward to reading the second installment.

Problematic: No Consent

While I understand this was supposed to be a dark romance, I felt this book went too far. The author is clearly a skilled storyteller, but it was the story itself that was problematic. There were a number of sex scenes that lacked consent entirely, a lot of graphic violence (e.g., torture scenes, boxes with body parts, etc.), and problematic relationships (i.e., falling in love with your stalker). Everyone has kinks, but this was not for me. Tread with caution unless this is your cup of tea.
