Historia
From his 1935 debut with "The Universal History of Iniquity", through his immensely influential collections Ficciones and The Aleph, these enigmatic, elaborate, imaginative inventions display Borges' talent for turning fiction on its head by playing with form and genre and toying with language.

exquisite stories to make you think
Revisado: 06-13-24
I loved these short stories, a collection of fantastical and speculative fiction with a philosophical bent. Great narrator performance as well, he really helped the characters come to life. Excellent collection overall, will probably revisit again.

Historia
In this classic account of madness, Michel Foucault shows once and for all why he is one of the most distinguished European philosophers since the end of World War II. Madness and Civilization, Foucault's first book and his finest accomplishment, will change the way in which you think about society. Evoking shock, pity, and fascination, it might also make you question the way you think about yourself.

incredible material, good audio performance
Revisado: 06-07-24
The material is fantastic, but I won't be commenting much on it here. Just wanted to mention what you could already know from the sample, the narrator has a beautiful but thick Scottish accent that some may find difficult at times to understand. I found that the more I listened, the less of an issue it became, as I got I to the groove of the narration and noticed it less. so probably a me issue but just a heads up for others with auditory processesing disorder. Adjusting the speed might help.

Historia
A quarter of a century after her memoir, Thinking in Pictures, forever changed how the world understood autism, Temple Grandin—the “anthropologist from Mars,” as Oliver Sacks dubbed her—transforms our awareness of the different ways our brains are wired. Do you have a keen sense of direction, a love of puzzles, the ability to assemble IKEA furniture without crying? You are likely a visual thinker.

Too much focus on productivity and capitalist return; a lot of “I’m better” undertones

I relate to Grandin's POV
Revisado: 10-26-22
Some great concepts & ideas, though without the physical written copy I don't know what Grandson's sources are & am curious to evaluate them. Some generalizations merit scrutiny, in my opinion, especially regarding the types of thinkers that dominate various occupational fields.
We're both object-visual thinkers & so it was easy to relate to her point of view.
While all chapters did tie into each other conceptionally, I wonder if readers that are not autistic will follow her points regarding autism and visual thinking. I'm also autistic, so I cannot say myself what non autistic people will gather from those sections. Overall I enjoyed this book very much, and I suspect other people that like to learn about cognition will enjoy this too.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

I really enjoyed it.

Voice acting for Little Orphan Annie came off comical, not realistic, but otherwise I enjoyed the narrator.

Historia
It’s the summer of 1969, and the shock of conflict reverberates through the youth of America, both at home and abroad. As a student at a quiet college campus in the heartland of Indiana, Terry Ives couldn’t be farther from the front lines of Vietnam or the incendiary protests in Washington. But the world is changing, and Terry isn’t content to watch from the sidelines. When word gets around about an important government experiment in the small town of Hawkins, she signs on as a test subject for the project, code named MKULTRA.

Better than I expected
Revisado: 07-19-19
The narrator's voice grew on me, and I appreciate how easy it was to tell who was talking by how the narrator's voice changed. The story itself is is surprisingly good, though I am a big Stranger Things fan to begin with. That said, the characters are mostly relatable and likeable, with their own motives and development. The villian is even more villianous than we first knew from the show, to great effect. I think this novel adds to the depth of the Stranger Things universe and most fans will enjoy this book.
