Our gut is almost as important to us as our brain, yet we know very little about how it works. Gut: The Inside Story is an entertaining, informative tour of the digestive system from the moment we raise a tasty morsel to our lips until the moment our body surrenders the remnants to the toilet bowl. No topic is too lowly for the author's wonder and admiration, from the careful choreography of breaking wind to the precise internal communication required for a cleansing vomit.

Historia
A truth-sayer's guide to assessing one's entrepreneurial aptitude, written for anyone seriously considering starting a business of any kind. Most entrepreneur guides focus on the mechanics of raising capital, drafting a business plan, and handling licensing, but they overlook the serious self-reflection that is required in the decision to launch a business. And most of the literature is obsessed with success stories, while ignoring the much more illuminating and instructional lessons that can be learned from failure.

A Different, Important Perspective
Revisado: 07-29-18
I have recently started to consider starting a business, and this book provided a much-needed perspective. Rather than focusing on the details and processes for formally starting a business, it explored the common pitfalls and ill-fit motivations for doing so.

Excellent Insight
Revisado: 03-15-18
Well written and well read. There were many moments when I felt like the author was reading my mind. I haven’t taken the steps to fully apply the GTD method yet, but am already seeing benefit from some of tips and perspectives introduced early in the book. 10/10

Interesting Stories, Decent Plot
Revisado: 08-07-17
Overall I enjoyed it, but the best moments were the stories within the overarching narrative. I also liked the preface and post-script where you hear from the author. He clearly has a great appreciation for the bold and contradictory nature of the US. It is a challenge to mesh gods from various cultures and make their interactions plausible. I understand the author's approach, but by the end of the book I was not compelled to "root" for anyone. I enjoyed the writing style and pace and will likely look around for other works by Neil Gaiman.

This book tells a fantastic story while exploring the implications of nanotechnology from many angles, including the differing philosophies of the East and West. An excellent listen overall
