Historia
Mickey Gibson, single mother and former detective, leads a hectic life similar to that of many moms: juggling the demands of her two small children with the tasks of her job working remotely for ProEye, a global investigation company that hunts down wealthy tax and credit cheats. When Mickey gets a call from a colleague named Arlene Robinson, she thinks nothing of Arlene’s unusual request for her to go inventory the vacant home of an arms dealer who cheated ProEye’s clients and fled.

Billy Todd has always been different. Most people called him odd, and those were the nice people. Though he was born with a learning disability, Billy's parents never allowed him to consider himself disabled. Raised to be self-sufficient, Billy might not be as smart as some, but he was a lot smarter than people realized.

Don’t waste your time
Revisado: 11-13-21
I very rarely write reviews, but I felt I had to here. Comparing this to “Where the Crawdads Sing“ is simply absurd. The worst part here was the narration. The horrible, singsong accent of the narrator made one want to stop listening. I sped up the narration to as fast as I could while leaving it understandable since I was hoping it would get better. I would advise anyone to avoid this book, at least in the audio version. I feel bad about saying this about the narrator, but I feel it is true.

Historia
People who are not in the habit of talking with the dead have a hard time imagining what Matt Fraser’s life is like. Based on the questions he gets, they seem to think he spends most of his time sitting cross-legged in a trance, maybe hovering a few inches off the ground, leaving his physical body behind as he journeys across the veil to the spirit realm. But it’s not like that at all.

Revisado: 08-18-21
Very repetitive. 90% about how great he is and very little to document there is life after death. This sounds like every other huckster. He never tells us how much he charges for a private meeting, and what his annual income is.

Real life!
Revisado: 08-17-21
Henry S
Many reviewers did not like the ending. They say it is unbelievable. CS says “why would someone accept something from a stranger?” As a physician, I can say, unfortunately, that happens all the time.
Maybe all the reviewer’s are too young, even Mr. Grisham, perhaps , to remember a basketball player named Len Bias. He was born November 18, 1963 and died June 19, 1986. His last four years he played basketball for the University of Maryland. He was a phenomenal player from the Washington DC suburbs who was named a first team all American and was the second overall pick in the 1986 NBA draft on June 17, 1986, by the Boston Celtics. On June 19 , Bias died of a cocaine overdose.
When I listened to this book, I thought it was an anti-drug story based on Len Bias’s life. However, no one seems to have recognized the link. Perhaps it was in Mr. Grisham’s subconscious.

Incomplete
Revisado: 10-25-20
Again Mr. Grisham leaves the story incomplete and sets us up to read and buy his next novel. He leaves us hanging about the mystery witness at the train crash. We all assume he is a set up by the railroads attorneys. I had hoped this Would come out in this volume, but apparently we have to wait for the next. Of course there will be more trials, and again we are left hanging. I wish he would just write the whole series and get it over with. Start down a new path with a new story line !

Historia
When former Klansman and piney-woods outcast Aaron Crown is finally imprisoned for a decades-old murder, it is to Detective Dave Robicheaux that he proclaims his innocence loudest. Crown seems to be a lightning rod for every kind of trouble that the state of Louisiana can unearth. A documentary film writer seeking to prove Crown's innocence is found murdered; a button man for the New Orleans mob accuses Robicheaux of taking a pay-off to ignore Crown.
But it is when Buford LaRose -- scion of an old Southern family and author of a book on the Crown case -- is elected governor that Dave Robicheaux's involvement with Aaron Crown deepens to a level he can barely fathom. And it is Buford's social-climbing wife, Karyn, with whom Robicheaux had an affair years before, who proves to be his most poisonous adversary.
Filled with thrilling adventure, lightning-paced action, and street smart realism, Cadillac Jukebox is a brilliant addition to Burke's standout Dave Robicheaux series.

Revisado: 05-07-19
This judge just lacks too much basic smarts to be a judge. There are way too many cliches. I kept waiting for it to become interesting, but it never did. Very disappointed.

Completely Ridiculous & Unbelievable
Revisado: 02-12-17
The premise is so unbelievable that I had to force myself to keep listening. It became more absurd with each page. Any listener could think of a hundred ways for the heroine to get out of her predicament. I have never been so disappointed with a purchase.
