Historia
Dave Davies is the co-founder and lead guitarist of epoch-defining band the Kinks, a group with 50 million record sales to their name. In his autobiography, Davies revisits the glory days of the band that spawned so much extraordinary music, and which had such a profound influence on bands from The Clash and Van Halen to Oasis and Blur. Full of tales of the tumultuous times and the ups-and-downs of his relationship with his brother Ray, along with encounters with the likes of John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix, this will be a glorious listen.

Historia
John Oates was born at the perfect time, paralleling the birth of rock 'n roll. Raised in a small Pennsylvania town, he was exposed to folk, blues, soul, and R&B. Meeting and teaming up with Daryl Hall in the late 1960s, they developed a style of music that was uniquely their own but never abandoned their roots.

Less Than Meets The Eye
Revisado: 04-18-17
As an avid listener to rock n roll personality memoirs, I was very disappointed in Change of Seasons. Oates and his co-author seemed so preoccupied with writing something literary and descriptive that what they often ended up describing were banal, leaving out stories of actual events throughout Oates career as a musician and performer. Descriptions of sunsets, and weather and wheat fields, etc., are all well and good but that's not what the listener bought this for.

Historia
When Alice Cooper became the stuff of legend in the early '70s, their shows were monuments of fun and invention. Riding on a string of hits like "I'm 18" and "School's Out", they became America's highest-grossing act, producing four platinum albums and hitting number one on the US and UK charts with Billion Dollar Babies in 1973. Their utterly original performance style and look, known as shock rock, was swiftly copied by countless bands.

Need a professional narrator
Revisado: 03-15-16
Is there anything you would change about this book?
God Bless Dennis Dunaway, but he should have never narrated this book. It sounds like he is reading a "what I did on my summer vacation" essay in junior high school.

Historia
Creedence Clearwater Revival is one of the most important and beloved bands in the history of rock, and John Fogerty wrote, sang, and produced their instantly recognizable classics: "Proud Mary", "Bad Moon Rising", "Born on the Bayou", and more. Now he reveals how he brought CCR to number one in the world, eclipsing even the Beatles in 1969. By the next year, though, Creedence was falling apart; their amazing, enduring success exploded and faded in just a few short years.

Narration is Awful
Revisado: 11-14-15
This is an example of when the author should not be the narrator. He puts the emotional energy into this as if he was reading an instruction manual. I listened to the first two hours. The content was excruciatingly boring (he hadn't yet picked up a guitar) and the narration cloying. I couldn't listen further.

Historia
John Waters is putting his life on the line. Armed with wit, a pencil-thin mustache, and a cardboard sign that reads "I’m Not Psycho", he hitchhikes across America from Baltimore to San Francisco, braving lonely roads and treacherous drivers. But who should we be more worried about, the delicate film director with genteel manners or the unsuspecting travelers transporting the Pope of Trash?

I call BS
Revisado: 06-24-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This is obviously fiction. Waters is laughing hysterically that people would buy this book and actually think it has any attachment to reality.
What could John Waters have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Label it fiction, so I wouldn't have bothered with it.
What three words best describe John Waters’s voice?
impressed with himself
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
John is a good narrator
Any additional comments?
Spoiler alert: in order, he gets picked up right away in his own neighborhood by a pot dealer who gives him 5 million in cash to make a movie...right. Next he gets picked up by a demolition derby redneck who has John give him a handjob during the demo derby...sure. Then he gets picked up by a cop who happens to have a bag of poppers with him...ahem...Then a 94 year old women who just happened to be an actor in one of his early films. Then a some ravers, then a guy in an orange prison jump suit who just broke out of Levenworth. I stopped there. I want my credit back. And the last two hours of my life.

Self-indulgent
Revisado: 01-02-10
I was hoping for insight into the workings and world of the psych ward, but found a self-indulgent book about a rather uninteresting author. This book was disappointingly boring.
