Historia
A startling crime with dozens of victims. Appearing out of nowhere to horrify the quiet resort town of Sanibel Island, Florida, dozens of identical, ordinary-looking shoes float in on the tide and are washed up on the tropical beach—each one with a crudely severed human foot inside.

Pendergast. Extraordinary again.
Revisado: 04-05-24
Pendergast is an absolute wonder with the combination of intelligence and intuitiveness. Constance is fantastic! I have enjoyed every Pendergast book I have listened to and I know I will enjoy all the future Pendergast books I will listen to. Thank you to the authors and the narrator.

Historia
In 2008, nine mountaineers failed to return from a winter backpacking trip in the New Mexico mountains. At their final campsite, searchers found a bizarre scene: something had appeared at the door of their tent so terrifying that it impelled them to slash their way out and flee barefoot to certain death in a blizzard. Despite a diligent search, only six bodies were found, two violently crushed and inexplicably missing their eyes. The case, given the code name “Dead Mountain” by the FBI, was never solved. Now, two more bodies from the lost expedition are unexpectedly discovered in a cave.

Good book. Narrator not good

Another winner for
Preston & Child. Whoever chose the narrator did him an injustice.
He does not have the voice that complements this book.

Poor guy, sad family, but he's a hero and a hero's job is always tough. The readers are wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed this "listen". Read/listen and you will also enjoy this book!

Too Short of a short story
- De Jean en 11-09-14
Terrific! Especially for a short story!
Revisado: 07-07-15
I usually do mot read short stories as they mostly fall short in some aspect or another. Authors have explained how difficult it can be to write a short story while doing justice to the plot, characters, the beginning, the middle, and especially the end. WELL, this short story excels in all the above parts of the plot! This is the best short story I have ever read in this genre. In fact, this is one of the best stories i have read, long or short! Is a prize-winner! Read it and see for yourself.

Great listen! Great plot including great ...5
Revisado: 06-11-15
...Characters. BUT... The conclusion is the best ending I have ever read. It is totally a surprise and shockingly so. WOW!! I could use as many superlative adjectives I know and still not adequately describe how extreme the conclusion effects all that came before.
After reading my remarks, do yourself a big favor and don't let curiosity overpower you to read the conclusion first. You'll be very sorry you ruined a great mystery!

I listened to this book and the reader is terrific-most important when listening of course. The story is clever, the characters are fleshed out, the dogs are a delight and the writing is good. This is fiction so suspend insistence for perfection and enjoy.
