Tj Klune has an unbelievable ability to draw you in very quickly with his writing. This book is one of my favorites of his. I love the world I can imagine when I read or listen to his books. This one brings you through so many emotions it’s so easy to get attached to every single character.

Bad narrator
Revisado: 06-16-23
The narrator is so bad that it makes the story unbearable. I’m not sure if I’ll finish this one. I love Poe’s Memento Morí series so I thought I’d like this one. The narrator overemphasized everything and the character voices bleed into the same person; nasally and whiny. It’s so annoying to here letters added for no reason. When the character says I or I’ll or I’m, for example, the narrator likes to add an “n” before the word and speak from his throat. Perhaps if someone else narrates in the future I’ll be able to listen to the story.

This book is so fun, I can’t wait to listen to the next one. My only issue is the sexy scenes are slightly less sexy when the narrator makes the noises or says the curses. It’s pretty cringey and I skipped them 😅

Hotel-room-trashing tantrums? Check. Daddy issues galore? Check. Glitz, glamour and general debauchery? I wrote the f**king book. I’m a textbook bad boy rockstar cliche, and I’ve never claimed to be anything else. Hell, I own it. At least, I did, until he came along: Mr. Self-Righteous who acts more like a priest than a drummer. Now he’s my bodyguard and the guy in charge of making sure I don’t OD before the tour ends. Oh, right. I also have a crazy stalker who’s been obsessed with me since I was a kid. So that’s fun.

I tried.
Two narrators is rough, the one for Cash isn’t bad but the one for Dante is 😅.
I could see where it was going but it got especially rough when they said Dante was 18 and Cash was 34.
What could a 34 year old possibly need with a strung out, self sabotaging 18 year old?

When Cassius Black moves to San Francisco for a fresh start, the angel's hopes of staying below the radar of the supernatural organizations that oversee the otherworldly and magic users in the city are dashed when he stumbles across a dead body in the sewers. Morgan King and his team of Argonaut agents have been on the hunt all summer for the culprits behind a series of gruesome killings that have rocked the city. When Fate puts Cassius in Morgan's path, he realizes the angel everyone likes to call The Devil may very well be the only person who can help them track down the murderers.

Phew
Revisado: 04-26-22
This one was hard to finish. In theory, the plot is decent and I think it could’ve been developed better. There were so many redundancies and explanations that kept being repeated, I found myself skipping through a lot of this book. The same words repeated themselves consistently throughout that they lost their meaning and it was more of an eye roll every time I heard them.
The characters themselves were okay but it was hard to resist annoyance when they would ask stupid questions when the answers were given two seconds ago.
The reader was okay for the side character but Morgan and Cassius’ voices were painful. Cassius sounded like the surfer kid that Drake Bell acted as on the Amanda Show, very frat boyish. Idk how else to describe that. Think of the Debby Ryan hair tuck meme was a voice mixed with frat boy. “Like, Morgan, dude, no, I can’t believe it, dude.” Maybe that helps? And Morgan’s voice was mostly just laughably deep? Picture if a boulder could speak and had emotions.
The saving grace was that it was interesting enough to finish with lots of breaks in between.

I loved this one. Mystery/romance books are my trope for sure. Attempting to figure it out before the characters and experiencing their budding romance is the best.
The narrator is amazing and I am obsessed with Rhys Ford books.

While Hazard struggles with his new reality (changing dirty diapers, just to start), a bizarre murder offers a distraction.

Love it
Revisado: 09-06-21
I love this series so much. Honestly my only complaints are the repetitive comparisons. I was rolling my eyes whenever Somers eyes were compared to water-again. Hazard’s eyes were compared to scarecrows and autumn corn so many times I was surprised the narrator didn’t get annoyed.
With that being said—
This series is so raw and beautiful. Hazard needs to work on himself for sure but I feel as if he’s finally growing as a character and perhaps one day he won’t have blow out tantrums whenever he’s angry.
The mysteries are fun to follow and try to figure out based on context clues and the evidence they discover.

It's almost Christmas, and Emery Hazard finds himself face to face with his own personal nightmare: going on a double date with his partner - and boyhood crush - John-Henry Somerset. Hazard brings his boyfriend; Somers brings his estranged wife. When a strange call interrupts dinner, however, Hazard and his partner become witnesses to a shooting. The victims: Somers' father and the daughter of a high school friend. The crime is inexplicable. There is no apparent motive, no connection between the victims, and no explanation for how the shooter reached his targets.

I know i chose this but dude. I’m dying. I hate Nico so much. He’s obviously just a rebound and they’re both way too messed up and rushed into the relationship that was barely defined. He’s so controlling and childish. I understand it’s cause the age difference and trust issues but lord he’s so annoying. I’m not saying Hazard is good either though. He’s messed up af for sure, Somers too. But they have redeeming qualities at least. I’m ready for the next book when I can finally say goodbye to Nico 🤢🤢🤢

Emery Hazard and his partner, John-Henry Somerset, have solved their first case together. The brutal murders that rocked the quiet town of Wahredua have been put to rest. Hazard, however, finds his life has only grown more complicated as he adjusts to his new home. Living with Somers, whom he has been drawn to since high school, makes "complicated" the understatement of the year.

This series this series spoilers
Revisado: 09-02-21
This series makes you put in work for sure. I’m often impatient with how slowly things are progressing and I have to remind myself we’re all in it for the long haul. There’s quite a few issues that need resolving before end of book three, beginning of book four. The most strange thing to me is Nico. He doesn’t make sense. Hazard obviously is in love with Somers. He was broken up with over the phone by a cheating ex and then hooks up with someone who was cheated on and in this books proceeds to cheat on as well. Honestly I’m not sure, Nico isn’t called Hazard’s boyfriend until later in this book but it’s implied since the beginning. Nico really doesn’t make sense, even as a rebound. He’s super young and immature and Hazard has his own issues he needs to address. This series is very repetitive though. Often things are repeated in detail that don’t need to be and I want to skip those bits. If you can get through those small annoyances I think so far this series is worth it. I’m about to yank my hair out at the end of this one 😅

Arthur is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it. Ben thinks the universe needs to mind its business. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office carrying a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things. But when Arthur and Ben meet-cute at the post office, what exactly does the universe have in store for them? Maybe nothing. After all, they get separated. Maybe everything. After all, they get reunited.

Revisado: 08-30-21
This book is what you’d get if you mixed You Got Mail with high school. Kind of. There’s moments that don’t make sense. However as this is a YA, the characters actions kind of make sense. I liked the story alright but the epilogue wasn’t it for me. I haven’t finished listening. At first I liked both narrators but the second person, who voiced Arthur as a main fit much better for Ben and Arthur and it was disappointing when they would switch back.
